Call for Papers Breaks Industry World Record with 2,278 Proposals from 540 Organizations Across 65 Countries

Abu Dhabi, UAE – 23 June 2015 – Global industry leaders and decision-makers are set to make the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition & Conference (ADIPEC) 2015 a record-breaker, with the number of abstract submissions for the Conference Programme rising 26 percent from 2014.

With a total of 2,278 proposals submitted from 540 organizations across 65 countries, the ADIPEC 2015 Conference Programme is already building on the success of last year’s event, which received 1,806 abstracts. Nearly half of submissions this year were received from outside the Middle East, underscoring the Abu Dhabi event’s importance as the world’s new meeting point for the global oil and gas community.

The ADIPEC 2015 technical committee, which is comprised of 175 industry leading experts, convened on 19th May, where 559 quality abstracts were selected following a thorough and rigorous selection process across nine categories. At almost a 25% approval rate, the selection process qualified a 15% higher number of abstracts than the previous year.

“The ADIPEC 2015 Conference Programme Call for Papers has broken the world record for the number of submitted abstracts in the oil and gas industry, receiving more papers than some of the industry’s largest technical conferences, including Houston’s Offshore Technology Conference (OTC), which received 1313 submissions,” said Mr. Fareed Abdulla, Senior Vice President – North East Bab (NEB) Asset at the Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations Ltd. (ADCO), ADIPEC 2015 Technical Conference Chairman, and SPE Regional Director, Middle East and North Africa.

“This highlights the richness of the platform that ADIPEC represents. As ADIPEC has grown over the years, so has the range and quality of the proposals we receive. We are again expecting a strong representation of lectures and presentations under a number of engaging and pertinent technical categories,” Mr. Abdulla added.

Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, ADIPEC 2015 will take place from 9-12 November, and is hosted by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), organised by dmg events, and supported by the UAE Ministry of Energy and the Abu Dhabi Chamber.

The ADIPEC Conference Programme, organized by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), is now one of the largest events focusing on the energy sector, attracting government ministers, CEOs from the world’s leading national and international oil companies and service companies, and key decision makers from across the industry.

This year’s conference theme is “Innovation and Sustainability in a New Energy World,” and the event will explore regional and global views, with more than 600 speakers and 7,000 delegates from both technical and non-technical functions within the oil and gas industry.

Last year’s ADIPEC Conference Programme featured a ministerial session, two executive plenary sessions, eight executive panels, 81 technical sessions, six workshops, four academia sessions, and three dedicated sessions on IT security – offering industry professionals a comprehensive forum for exchanging knowledge on the most critical issues facing the energy sector.

Christopher Hudson, President – Global Energy, dmg events, said: “Set in Abu Dhabi, one of the world’s leading oil and gas producers, ADIPEC is poised for continued growth, and this achievement is testimony to ADIPEC’s unwavering commitment to serve the diverse needs of the energy sector. It is only through the dissemination of knowledge and research that we can truly forge a path to a sustainable future.”

The technical categories that will be covered at the ADIPEC 2015 Conference are: E&P Geoscience, Unconventional Resources, Field Development, Drilling and Completion Technology, Projects Engineering and Management, Operational Excellence and HSE, Gas Technology, and People and Talent.
