Averda consolidates leading regional positon with 5 year agreement

Dubai, 15 December 2015: Leading waste management provider, averda, has added the Kingdom of Bahrain to their growing list of partners in the GCC following an international tender which averda won on technical and financial merit. In a 5 year contract signed in Bahrain on the 8th of December with the Ministry of Works, Municipalities and Urban Planning, averda will deliver a range of waste management and sustainable solutions using proven systems and technology tailored to the kingdom’s specific needs.

The partnership is timely as environmental issues in the GCC are becoming ever more important, with member states now seeking sustainable solutions using proven methods and technology to safeguard the environment for future generations. The agreement with industry leader averda, was signed by H.E Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf, Bahrain’s Minister of Works, Municipalities and Urban Planning and Maysarah Sukkar, Chairman of averda. This development is in alignment with Bahrain’s 5 year environmental plan and will ensure that the kingdom benefits from the best solutions tailored to fit its specific needs, while offering the best return on investment. It is envisaged that a cleaner, greener and safer environment will help attract visitors, while giving Bahrain an advantage where foreign direct investment is concerned.

In operation for over 30 years, averda provides integrated waste management solutions to governments and businesses across three continents. Mr Maysarah Sukkar Chairman of averda said, “We are proud to add Bahrain to our list of partners in the GCC that already includes UAE, KSA, Oman, and Qatar. We utilise the latest technology and innovation in customer service and are committed to engaging and giving value to the communities in which we work. As a socially responsible organisation, we have plans that include a programme to raise awareness of the importance of recycling, while at the same time offering employment opportunities to Bahrainis in a range of disciplines. We believe this partnership is a testimony to our international reputation as providers of cost effective, efficient and sustainable solutions, and we look forward to working closely with the government of Bahrain and contributing positively to their environmental plans”, he said.
