Dubai dental practice expands paediatric facilities as 62% of UAE children aged 5-7 suffer from cavities
Dr. Roze & Associates opens five new surgical suites in Jumeirah to treat children’s dental health as UAE statistics report 62.5% of 5 to 7-year-olds require treatment for cavities and 80% of children in the 12 to 15-year old age group have unhealthy gums.
Popular Dubai-based dental practice, the Dr. David Roze & Associates (DRA) clinic, has announced the expansion of its Jumeirah dental operation, with the opening of five new surgical suites.
The new facilities will primarily focus on providing world-class dental care for children, with the expansion of its paediatric department, which includes the appointment of three new dentists and a hygienist.
Commenting on the expansion, Dr. David Roze, practice founder, said, “After 3 years in our own clinic and 12 years in Dubai, I am delighted we were able to add a talented and experienced new team of dental specialists to our practice.
“Dr. Roze & Associates was founded with the goal of establishing a new European standard of care in Dubai and our team philosophy is based on bringing together specialists in various fields who collectively share the same passion for dental health and who are committed to delivering the highest quality of dental care.”
A 2013 survey conducted by The Dubai Health Authority found that 62.5% of five to seven-year olds in the UAE had dental caries (cavities), with 59.2% of 12 to 15-year olds and 65.9% of 15 to 17-year olds also requiring treatment.
“This figure is very worrying, and was a major driver in our decision to expand our onsite resources, with a specific focus on increasing the level of paediatric care available to patients,” remarked Dr. Roze.
“Dental cavities are preventable and taking simple steps to reduce the risk is imperative. Along with our dental hygiene specialists we aim to educate children and encourage good habits that last a lifetime,” said Dr. Roze
The survey also noted that 80% of children in the 12 to 15-year old age group have unhealthy gums, and 57% of 15 to 17 year olds experience similar problems.
“Toothaches are one of the top reasons for absenteeism from schools and although we are seeing a decline in oral healthcare problems in developed countries, there is a rising incidence of gum disease, especially in those that eat a great deal of sugary foods and drinks. This is something that we are extremely keen to address with all of our patients, young and old. The connection between oral health impacting overall health is now widely known and needs to be addressed,” added Dr. Roze.
In addition to Dr. Roze the specialists at Dr. Roze & Associates include: Dr. Fabien Depardieu, Specialist Orthodontist from France; Dr. Rita Hyysalo, General Dentist and Cosmetic Specialist from Finland; and Dr. Hubert de Grully, General Dentist and CEREC® Specialist from France. The hygienist team is led by Kate Telep from Poland and Victoria Wilson from the UK.
The clinic also features an on-site laboratory, headed by Johann Grobbelaar, to provide patients with superior restorative solutions with consistent quality, advanced technology and personal service.
New team members include: Dr. Laura Delgado Rodríguez from Spain, Specialist Periodontist; and Dr. Agnes Roze from France, Specialist Paediatric Dentist. And Wala Shehada from Canada, dental hygienist, completes the new extended line-up.
Dr. Roze & Associates offers an extended list of services, all under one roof: dental hygiene for adults and children; teeth whitening; dental implants; and the full spectrum of orthodontic services including Invisalign® clear aligners for which the clinic is one of the leaders in the region. Specialist services also include dental restorations using patented CEREC® products for the creation of ceramic restorations such as crowns, veneers and onlays.
In addition to the services portfolio and on-site lab, Dr. Roze & Associates Dental Clinic also offers surgical procedures at its state-of-the-art premises, undertaken by its highly qualified team, ranging from root canals, oral surgery and wisdom tooth removal to cosmetic dentistry and sedation dentistry.
