Dubai, UAE, July 19, 2016:  Samsung, the number one TV manufacturer worldwide for the past 10 years, has launched its latest line-up of SUHD TVs at a media event held at the Burj Al Arab in Dubai. Samsung’s 2016 range of SUHD TVs offer unparalleled picture quality, featuring Quantum dot display, the world’s first bezel-less curved design and the smartest user interface to deliver a state-of-the-art hub for home entertainment content.

Quantum dots are nano-sized crystals made of semiconductor materials. With over 150 patents on the technology, Samsung is currently the only company that produces cadmium-free quantum dot displays. Giving off pure colors, the technology ensures that primary colors can be more clearly distinguished in comparison to conventional TVs. Each quantum dot shows precise colors while the light from conventional displays mixes with adjacent colors. Compared to phosphors in conventional TVs, not only are they able to produce more colors, but their photo-active property allows for better light efficiency. By leveraging this advantage, Samsung engineers were able to increase the maximum brightness of the latest range to 1,000 nits and higher, opposed to the standard of 400 nits found in conventional TVs. Regardless of the lighting environment, the SUHD TVs deliver the optimum viewing experience, with the 1,000 nit high dynamic range (HDR) offering an extraordinary level of contrast between light and dark images. The Ultra Black technology also significantly reduces light reflection, further enhancing picture quality with minimal glare. Inspired by nature, Ultra Black absorbs natural light the same way that a moth’s eye enables it to see better at night. 

The range is headlined by the world’s first bezel-less Curved TV, the KS9500 SUHD TV. With no bezel that normally functions as the border, the viewer’s attention is focused purely on what matters most – captivating content on the screen. In keeping with this design ethos, Samsung has sought to eliminate all unnecessary elements, even removing screws from the rear of the TV, to create an elegant product that is beautiful from every angle.

Built on the Tizen operating system (OS), the SUHD TVs make it easier for consumers to discover and access all their favorite content and services, from broadcast TV and movies to games and program information, all in one place. 

• New Smart Hub – The 2016 Smart Hub is designed to provide users with simple access to their favorite content all in one place. Live TV, over the top (OTT), games and even the menu that appears on the home screen of the Samsung Smart TV allows users to access their favorite programs as soon as they turn on the TV.
• Samsung Smart Control remote – The new Samsung Smart TV eliminates the need to juggle multiple remote controls. The Samsung Smart TV will automatically recognize the type of game console, OTT box or home theater system that is connected to the TV. This allows users to control such devices with the Smart Control remote — with no setup required.
• Smart View – The Samsung Smart View mobile app allows users to share their favorite content instantly with their family. The upgraded Smart View is now available beyond Samsung Galaxy devices, supporting Android and iOS devices, as well as Window PCs.
• Content Partnerships - Samsung is bringing premium VOD Player in the MENA region, with its vast array of entertainment content to its Smart TV customers through a partnership with MBC SHAHID PLUS. This collaboration offers viewers a choice of on-demand exclusive Arabic series, shows and the latest Arabic movies through three months’ worth of a free-trial subscription of SHAHID SVOD. Samsung also has a partnership with STARZ Play Arabia, the on-demand video streaming service available across the Gulf region, to bring the latest 4K content to its customers.  In addition to a wide range of blockbuster Hollywood movies and the latest English and Arabic TV series, the partnership will deliver 4K content in Arabic directly on Samsung Smart TVs for the first time in the region.  The range comes bundled with up to six months’ free subscription to STARZ Play. Customers only need to launch the application to receive the STARZ Play voucher on their screens and redeem it.

This year’s Samsung SUHD line up meets the UHD Alliance’s Premium UHD certification program, which ensures consumers are getting the most premium experience from their UHD TV. The 78-inch, 65-inch and 55 inch models of the KS9500 are priced at AED 34,999, AED 14,999 and AED 9,999 respectively.
