Comba Telecom Launches New-Generation Ultra-Wideband Compact 4G Antennas
Enhanced antenna solutions geared to cater to mounting network coverage and capacity needs in high-density areas
Comba Telecom Systems Holdings Limited, a global leading wireless solutions provider, has announced that its new generation of ultra-wideband compact 4G antennas launched earlier this year have passed tests conducted by China Telecom, and have been successfully deployed in several cities to provide a rapid fix for weak network coverage in heavy wireless traffic areas. This could spell a much-needed solution for the Middle East and Africa region, which is headed for the strongest mobile data traffic growth of anywhere in the world at an estimated compound annual growth rate of 71% in the lead up to 2020.
“Compact, multi-band, active-mode and intelligent solutions are the development trend of next-generation mobile communication networks and antenna technologies, with the small form factor being the foundation. Based on the results of Comba Telecom's research into miniaturisation technology, our compact antenna technology provides solutions to network construction issues – such as difficulties encountered in site selection and base station construction – increase efficiency and reduce costs associated with the build out of base stations,” said Zhang Yuejun, vice chairman and president of Comba Telecom.
Comba Telecom’s R&D team is continuously working towards reducing the physical size of antennas without compromising performance. As early as 2013, the group launched a generation (1710-2170MHz) of compact 4G base station antennas featuring the same-level performance as existing counterparts but smaller in footprint and more lightweight. Deployments by wireless carriers and industry peers worldwide have led to over 550,000 units being shipped to date.
The newly launched next generation of ultra-wideband (1710-2690MHz) compact 4G antennas feature upgraded low gain, ultra-wideband and compact antennas in a concealed design by adopting a new antenna shape and installation method so that the antennas can be installed on traffic light poles, traffic control structures and directional signs on roadways and thoroughfares, without taking up undue space on roofs, poles and towers, and can be naturally integrated with the surrounding environment.
“The UAE, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, in particular, have seen a rapidly mounting mobile data traffic growth rate in the last few years, with forecasts for continued heavy growth. Innovative, next generation solutions are the need of the hour, and that’s what Comba’s R-and-D team is constantly working towards,” commented Hazim Al-Rawi, general manager for the Middle East region at Comba.
