Participants will be challenged to design, in one single day, innovative concepts related to the bathroom space; prize money worth AED 12,000 to be awarded

After five successful editions in Barcelona and Madrid, and kicking off an international edition in Hong Kong last year, the Roca One Day Design Challenge has arrived in Dubai for the very first time. Set to roll out on October 29, as a part of the Dubai Design Week, this competition will challenge young professionals in design and architecture fields to create, over a single day, innovative concepts related to the bathroom space. Prize money worth AED 12,000 will be awarded to three winners with a first, second and third prize of AED 6,000, AED 4,000, and AED 2,000 respectively.

“Roca is committed to providing young designers with a unique platform to showcase their talent, while nurturing their creativity and providing them with professional experience. This competition also incorporates Roca’s drive to offer activities that disseminate the values of architecture and design,” comments Xavier Torras, Brand Communication Director from Roca.,

Registered participants will be handed a briefing on the morning of the event, containing the specific theme they will need to work on. Final concepts will be assessed by a jury comprising globally renowned design and architecture professionals, including Isabel Pintado, Xavier Torras, Khalid Shafar, Pallavi Dean and Ignacio Gomez.

“The aspects that will be taken into account are the innovation, creativity and originality of the proposals, as well as the sustainability, accessibility and that they guarantee the well being of people. All these aspects are part of the values and concerns of the brand, which always responds to the needs of society adapting to it,” adds Xavier Torras.

Once the contest finishes, this platform will extend through its website, which will provide visibility to the winners of the different editions, becoming a showcase to promote the work of the most prominent designers.
