UNICOM, Riyadh-based tech leader, strengthens distribution arm, gears to storm GCC markets
Strong presence at GITEX Technology Week
Dubai, UAE, October 16, 2016: Riyadh-based UNICOM Group, a leading organization in the ICT, Information Technology, and Mobility domains, has announced a major expansion strategy for its distribution arm and is highlighting its strengths and expertise at GITEX Technology Week Dubai (Stand C7-30), as it gears to expand its operations in GCC markets.
Unicom Distribution is a trusted partner for global brands, including Nubia, UP, Vsun, Wileyfox, YouFirst accessories and ZUK. It has strong distribution presence across the region and provides supply chain solutions and value added services for both partners and end consumers in the Middle East and Africa.
Speaking about the new push, Haitham Kalakesh, newly appointed CEO of Unicom Group, said: “GITEX is a perfect platform to showcase Unicom Group’s success story and articulate our vision of expanding into new markets, having made a mark in the Saudi market. Our Mobility distribution arm boasts a fleet of 50 vans and will grow to 90 by end of 2016. We have over 1100 direct billed accounts in Saudi Arabia and Egypt.”
Unicom Distribution, already a trusted partner of global brands, now plans to bring its expertise in distribution, supply chains solutions and value added services to the UAE and other parts of Middle East and Africa,” Kalakesh added.
Abdul Jabbar Shahnawaz, Group Marketing Director, said: “Unicom is today poised for a huge expansion, especially in distribution. We are confident of our strengths in our 5 core verticals -- Technology, Distribution, Online, Media and Unicom Industries – across the GCC region. At Gitex Technology Week, we aim to forge synergies with various OEM brands.”
“We have witnessed a drastic shift in the distribution market in 2016, with a major consolidation within brands. While retail challenges and liquidity issues has dampened the spirits of other players, we see them as an opportunities for taking Unicom Distribution to new heights. Our diverse portfolio gives us the strength to be able to invest and fund our expansion internally, and with our experience in building major and Tier 2 challenger brands in countries like Egypt, KSA, and other markets gives us the confidence that we would replicate our success in markets like UAE and other GCC and MEA countries,” he added.
Unicom’s ProServe, the multi brand and multi category After-Sale Centers, will showcase its latest innovations at Gitex Technology Week, such as the self-diagnostic application and its proprietary Firmware. Driven by over 50 competent service professionals, Proserve has latest state-of-the-art repair facilities in KSA, UAE, Egypt, Jordan, Sudan & Yemen, with capacity to handle over 200,000 repairs a year. Proserve will be vying to clinch partnership agreements with OEM’s to be their After-Sales service and maintenance provider in the region.
