Tadweer organizes “Al Ain – random waste dumping free” campaign
Abu Dhabi, 20 December 2016: Tadweer – the Center of Waste Management – Abu Dhabi, in cooperation with Al Ain Municipality launched “Al Ain – random waste dumping free” campaign with the objective to limit random waste dumping.
Eng. Nayel Rashed Al Shamsi, Al Ain Branch Manager at Tadweer, said that this campaign was organized in line with Tadweer’s efforts to raise awareness amongst community members at Al Ain to underline the importance of maintaining a sustainable and healthy environment. Tadweer is working towards reducing random dumping across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, which maintains the cleanness of its rural areas, farms and desert spaces by limiting the spread of public health pest control.
The campaign targets all illegal waste dumpers, ranging from companies to contractors, and the wider community of Al Ain city, rural areas and farms. Cooperators on this campaign included all Al Ain Municipality’s primary centers, Al Wagan, the city center, and Hayer areas.
During the campaign, all random waste was removed from numerous areas, and was delivered to Al Ain Municipality, which will be closely monitoring the random dumping situation. All northern region was fully cleaned, including housing areas, Al Hayer, Al-Shuaib and Al Faga’a; meanwhile Tadweer is tackling Nahel and Suwaihan areas. The total waste amount collected to date is approximately 4,800 tons. While in the southern region, covering Al Maragh and Al Shuaimah, and a few communities including Al Kharir, Mazyad and Al Thaher, resulted in a total waste collection of approximately 3,600 tons; work is underway in Ghafa and Sa’a.
Tadweer launched its “Al Ain – random waste dumping free” campaign last 27th November, and will last for two consecutive months. Tadweer is seeking to build community awareness through its ongoing activities and initiatives with the objective of preserving the environment and encouraging the society to exercise and adopt an aware environmental behavior, which would advance sustainable development in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
