Dubai Public Library participation includes reading and educational activities, in collaboration with Al Maktoum Foundation

Dubai – The United Arab Emirates, 10 January 2017:  Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), the Emirate's dedicated entity for culture, arts and heritage, has announced its support of the ‘We Are With You’ forum held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Rashid bin Hamdan Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Al Maktoum Foundation. The forum runs from the 6th to the 13th January 2017.

For the third year running, Dubai Culture will be represented at the event by the Dubai Public Library. The forum aims to support people with disabilities and integrate them into society, by nurturing their talents and abilities while also supporting both young people and productive families. The Authority’s participation will include a reading corner, a self-learning corner, an educational games corner, a library cinema corner, and a storytelling corner.

Fahad Al Mamari, Director of Dubai Public Library at Dubai Culture & Arts Authority, commented: “The ‘We Are With You’ forum represents an opportunity for us to demonstrate the Authority’s commitment to all segments of society, and to further our vision of promoting the Emirate’s cultural and artistic scene. We aim to share the love of reading with people from all walks of life via this initiative. In its role as partner to Al Maktoum Foundation and silver sponsor of the event, Dubai Public Library will make significant efforts to promote the forum program, which attracts a wide range of participants, and to help ensure that its objectives are met.”

In addition to Dubai Public Library’s activities at the forum, there will be a full range of events including entertainment programs for children, hand crafts, a corner for popular cuisine, and an exhibition for handmade crafts.

The Dubai Public Library network includes eight libraries for adults and another seven for children. Some branches feature multi-purpose halls, classrooms and exhibition spaces, and all branches of the Dubai Public Library are connected via computer systems. This has established close links with other modern libraries, providing access to vast sources of information on a diversity of topics in both Arabic and English.
