Abu Dhabi — January 16-19, 2017

  • 2 French pavilions (IWS & WFES)
  • Energy competitiveness clusters: French innovation to take part in the Tech Talk Theater on 17th, 18th  from 1p.m to 3p.m

United Arab Emirates, January 11, 2017:  Business France, the national agency supporting the international development of the French economy, is once again running two French pavilions at the World Future Energy Summit and the International Water Summit in Abu Dhabi to give visitors an opportunity to evaluate France’s globally recognized expertise which ranks very well in Europe in the areas of renewable energy and energy efficiency.

28 businesses from all around the country decided to engage in Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2017 and showcase their latest technology, innovations and products for the middle east markets: renewable energy, water treatment equipment, wind energy, solar thermal energy; hydroelectric power.

Energy competitiveness clusters from France will make their first appearance at WFES this year. They represent  a network of scientific and technical experts in the domain of renewable energies. They will be on the French pavilion to find out more about regional eco-systems and debate with local and international companies looking for innovative partnerships with French firms in any subject related to renewable energy.

In 2015, France produced 91 TWh (Terra Watts per hour) of electrical power from renewable sources. The country has 353,000 renewable electricity production facilities. The French renewable energy sector generates revenue of €11.32 billion. France has 11 million square kilometers of sea and is among the largest potential sources of energy in the world.

Marc Cagnard, Middle East Director at Business France, stated: “WFES/IWS tradeshow represent a key event for French companies aiming to export. Our country is number one producer of water and waste treatment equipment but also in water and waste management. French firms like Veolia and Suez bring us at the forefront internationally. We are one of the top five global exporters of air treatment equipment. Offering the second-largest wind power potential in Europe, France is also Europe’s number four producer of wind & solar thermal energy. The many projects underway in the GCC are attracting high-performing French firms in the renewable energy, water and waste sectors. Attending WFES & IWS gives us an opportunity to consolidate French local presence.”

Stand to watch at WFES:  ARTS Energy, Ni-MH battery technology: offering a 10-year lifetime in outdoor solar applications in the Middle East. The French company ARTS Energy, one of the world's leading battery manufacturers, is ipresenting its new generation of nickel-metal hydride (Ni-MH) batteries for professional autonomous solar energy solutions and backup applications. ARTS Energy's latest generation of Ni-MH batteries are exceptionally robust in very warm environments (up to 85°C) and boast a 10-year lifetime when used in outdoor applications in the Middle East. They are particularly well suited to autonomous solar applications in the Middle East (solar street lights, road and urban signage, etc.), which are very demanding. But this new generation of batteries also performs extremely well in backup applications (e.g.: telecoms), as well as applications involving a high number of cycles (e.g.: daily battery use to reduce main grid electricity bills).

French pavilion will be located in the International Pavilions hall, SolarExpo hall and International Water Summit hall.
