Team F3 dominate Sheikhs category providing thrilling duels in finals

DUBAI, 14th January 2017:  Ghaith, the falcon of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, lit up a gloomy morning with a dazzling performance in the Fazza Championship for Falconry Tilwah organized by the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Center (HHC) in Dubai on Thursday 12th January.

And then in a magnanimous gesture, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum directed the organizers to waive off the winning time of 20.275 seconds clocked by ‘Ghaith’ in the Hurr Wahish Farkh finals of the Sheikhs category, awarding the win to Sweidan Damithan Sweidan who came second in a time of 20.712 seconds followed by the entries of F3R falconers Rashid Saeed Sultan Al Kindi (21.101) and Suhail Saeed Sultan Al Kindi (21.380).

More than 200 falcons competed in 20 rounds in the Sheikhs and General Public categories on the final day of the championship in the dedicated Fazza Falconry Championship site of Ruwayyah on Thursday morning, bringing a thrilling finale to 11 days of intense competition. Team F3 swept the boards in most of the events in the Sheikhs category with the falcons of Khalifa Ahmed bin Mijrin and Rashid Saeed Al Kindi engaging in thrilling duels.

‘Year of Giving’
As the year 2017 has been declared the ‘Year of Giving’ in the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum’s generosity is a brilliant example of having the best interests of the citizens at heart.

“His Highness Sheikh Hamdan waived his falcon’s win and gave it to the second place contestant. His Highness Sheikh Hamdan just participated to give moral support to other competitors. His Highness giving away the first place only reinforces the initiative of the ‘Year of Giving’, beginning the new year with something that enhances the values of this concept,” said His Excellency Abdullah Hamdan bin Dalmook, CEO at HHC.
“This also proves that His Highness Sheikh Hamdan is a real supporter of this sport of falconry whether he participates or not. He always supports heritage sports and sports in general since he was in school,” he added.

Rain
Falconer Suhail Al Kindi said His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum admired ‘Ghaith’ which means rain in Arabic and had just returned from a hunting trip 10 days ago.

“Ghaith is a unique falcon. His Highness Sheikh Hamdan wanted to lift the competitive spirit of his fellow citizens by taking part in the championship,” said Al Kindi.

The phenomenal performances of ‘Ghaith’ certainly brought a new dimension to the championship and lifted the spirits of the participants after the start of the finals was delayed by more than two hours because fog enveloped the Ruwayyah area on Thursday morning.
