GAC Dubai opens new staff sports facility at GAC Logistics Park Converted facility promotes physical and mental well-being of its staff
Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 16th January 2017: GAC Dubai opened its new sports facility for staff members at its GAC Logistics Park in the Jebel Ali Free Zone.
The facility, which covers 675 square meters, was previously a parking area that GAC converted into a sports field for staff members and customers. All refurbishing costs were covered through the money saved by GAC staff’s recycling efforts. The initiative was a direct result from employee feedback on how the company can improve staff health and overall well-being.
“This new sports facility is part of the GAC Dubai effort to encourage our colleagues to exercise regularly and maintain a healthy work-life balance,” says GAC Dubai Managing Director Stuart Bowie. “We want healthier people and an even healthier company”.
During the cooler months, the sports field will also serve as a social hub where friendly competitions amongst staff, and even with customers, will be held. Future sport activities include basketball, cricket, volleyball, and group Zumba classes.
The facility was officially launched during a friendly match between the GAC Dubai management team and the distribution centre staff.
