EcoWASTE 2017 kicks-off eyeing the waste management sector development

The event witnessed strong local and international participation
H.E. Eisa Saif Al Qubaisi: “Tadweer’s ultimate objective is showcasing Abu Dhabi as the global capital of future energy and a leading destination for sustainability”

Abu Dhabi, 17 January 2017:  The fourth edition of EcoWASTE 2017, a leading conference and exhibition on sustainable environment, was officially inaugurated today at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center. The event is being held as part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW), between the 16th and 19th of January 2017. 

EcoWASTE 2017 is a platform which showcases the latest practices, solutions and technologies in the waste management sector. The event has attracted more than 48 local, regional and global exhibiting companies with an anticipated attendance of over 5,500 specialists and decision makers in the waste management and recycling sector, one of the fastest growing sectors in the Middle East region.  

During his inauguration tour of the exhibition, H.E. Eisa Saif Al Qubaisi, General Manager of Tadweer (Center of Waste Management-Abu Dhabi) said: “Tadweer’s ultimate objective is to showcase Abu Dhabi as the global capital of future energy and a leading destination for sustainability. Today we are successfully attracting a substantial number of local, regional and international organizations specialized in waste management and recycling; this is a testament to the tremendous efforts Tadweer is making to maintain a healthy sustainable environment, which comes in line with the vision of Abu Dhabi.”
H.E Al Qubaisi added that Tadweer, as a government entity responsible for the waste management services, aims to contribute to achieving Abu Dhabi’s vision by adopting safe, efficient and economic practices across Abu Dhabi.  

The Waste Management Solutions Forum will be held as part of EcoWASTE 2017, with the participation of key decision makers and experts in waste management. Numerous important topics will be discussed on waste management including, The Finnish waste management experience, strategies for successful waste management in the Middle East and North Africa, sustainable waste tyres management, segregating waste at source, managing medical waste, turning used oil into a biofuel, strategies for developing waste-to-energy facilities, delivering sustainable hotel waste strategies and reducing construction and demolition landfill waste.

EcoWASTE 2017 will include an educational awareness stand for the event’s visitors, with the aim of educating the public on Tadweer’s mission and processes, in addition to a children’s workshop set to underline the importance of cleanliness and safety of environment, and the role of the green and black containers. These educational initiatives will be managed by Tadweer’s public awareness team and a number of instructors. 

The activities will also include teaching the optimal ways making use of waste and the proper use of natural resources in order to encourage reducing waste production. 

EcoWASTE 2017 will be running alongside the World Future Energy Summit (WFES) and the International Water Summit (IWS) from 16 to 19 January at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center.
