Dubai, UAE, January 28, 2017:   Just when the New Year party wraps up, another glittering season awaits with its fresh fragrance of Valentine love. The month of February is mostly spent in shopping for various Valentine gifts to impress the lovers. According to an online survey conducted by Ferns N Petals, a gifting portal, at least 80% of consumers said they are keen on buying a nice gift for their partners this year as well. The survey was done to achieve better insights into shopping pattern and consumer behavior in and around Valentine’s Day.

What Age Group Would Search Online and Shop the Most?

The shopping behavior of people changes as per the changing age because of various factors including financial stability, stability in relationship, and of course maturity level. Out of the total percentage of people who would search online for valentine’s gifts this year, the percentage of consumers of tender age group between 18-24 years can be projected to be 16% while 56% of people in the age bracket of 25-44 years of people said they would search and surely buy online.The survey revealed that percentage of people searching online who are between 35-44 years of age would be around 18%, 45 and above age groups would make up for 5% and 4% searches respectively.

What Devices Are People Using to Shop?

Living in an era of technologies, people have too many devices to rely on. From Personal computers or desktops to mobile phones to tablets, there are many passages for an online order to be placed. When consumers were asked about their preferable device to search products, 60% answered mobile phone and 37% answered desktop, and meager 3% answered tablet. But when asked “what’s your prefered device to place an order on”, 28% answered in favor of mobiles, 66% answered for desktop, and a 5.5% said it is via tablet.

Males vs. Females - Who Would Spend the Most?

When asked a simple question, are you planning a valentine gift this year? almost every consumer, be it men or women answered positively. Narrowing down the survey to attain a proper conclusion throws a light on the shopping pattern of men and women. 45% of men said they are sure to look for products online this season as compared to  55% of females, but taking a look at the previous year’s data males had a revenue contribution of 58% and females 42% while buying gifts for their lovers or spouses.

A staggering 90% people have voted flowers and cakes to be the best gifts among many others ranging from teddy bears, chocolates, personalized gifts, or other gifts that provide some sort of experience like vacation or spa.
