Dubai, UAE, February 1, 2017:  Fashion trends emerging from Africa are rapidly becoming a global phenomenon, and there is now no better place this season to experience a truly vibrant blend of traditional and contemporary creations than at Global Village.

Countries from North, West and East Africa are showcasing their unique styles enabling visitors a first-hand experience of how centuries of traditional craftsmanship are today being fused with the most contemporary designs and giving them a chance to discover the exotic and exuberant flair from countries including Morocco, Senegal and Kenya.

Visitors can take a journey throughout the Africa Pavilion and Morocco Pavilion to encounter Africa’s diverse collection of authentic and bold accessories, shoes and clothes that range from Morocco’s traditional detailed embroidery kaftans to Senegal’s furry faux fox leather handmade bags, to the beautiful beadwork of Kenya. All of which have captured the fusion between old and new allowing visitors to savour the different cultures, colours and influences across Africa.

The Africa Pavilion is home to a variety of Senegal’s chic handmade leather accessories with stunning colour variations - including handbags, wallets, belts and shoes. Every piece has distinct patterns that range from exotic crocodile skin to snakeskin and trendy faux furry fox skin.

It is also home to Kenya’s colour, traditions and culture that are woven into its handcrafted bead jewellery. Once used as currency centuries ago, today beads have taken different forms as they embody the beliefs of various tribes in Africa through marvellous beadwork.

The hand-beaded jewellery of the Maasai tribe particularly, traditionally known for their vibrant dress and colourful artwork is the perfect choice for those on the look-out for some eye-catching, ethnic designs available as earrings, bracelets and necklaces.

It is also just a short walk to the decorous Moroccan Pavilion, which hosts many designers that are promoting their very popular traditional and brightly coloured ‘Kaftans’. The Kaftans are made out of wool, cashmere, silk or cotton with a mixture of gold embroidery, which adds unique styling to each garment.
Tarek Malhas, a specialised kaftan designer at the Moroccan Pavilion, said: “Moroccan women often choose Kaftans of bright colours and detailed embroidery with a lot of craftsmanship that will add a modern touch.” He explained that kaftans are ideal for different special occasions and can be worn on both casual and formal occasions, depending on the materials used.

For those seeking to make a fashion statement, Global Village is the ideal destination to experience the bold styles of Africa. The unique fusion of modern and traditional African fashion offers visitors the opportunity to capture and reflect the sense of culture, colours and style from this vibrant continent.
Global Village will continue to provide more unique shopping, food, and entertainment experiences to its guests everyday until April 8, 2017.  Global Village’s opening hours are from 4pm to 12am Saturday to Wednesday and from 4pm to 1am on Thursdays and Fridays in addition to public holidays.
