Flying start for F3 falconers in Fazza Championship for Falconry Tilwah ‘Fakhr Al Ajyal'

Highlight of championship will be crowning of the champions of the series with two Categories for Super Finals (‘Al Nukhba’)
 
DUBAI, 2nd February 2017:  The fifth edition of the Fakhr Al Ajyal (‘The Pride of the Generation’) Championship for Falconry Tilwah organized and supervised by the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Center (HHC) got off to a flying start with F3 falconers producing the fastest times on the first day of competition in Dubai on Tuesday 1st February. 

In the first two events in the Sheikhs category, F3R falconer Rashid Saeed Sultan Bin Mijrin Al Kindi’s falcon clocked the best time of 17.361 seconds in the Jeer Shaheen Farkh event while F3K falconer Khalifa Ahmed Bin Mijrin Mohammed Al Kindi’s entry went even faster recording an amazing time of 17.214 seconds in the Jeer Shaheen Jernas event. 

A record number of 320 contestants have registered to participate in this prestigious Fazza Championship for Falconry series which will be held in the Sheikhs and General Public categories in the dedicated site in Ruwayyah off Emirates Road (Exit 55) until 12th February.

Competition is being held in the Jeer Shaheen Farkh, Jeer Shaheen Jernas, Jeer Tabaa Farkh, Jeer Tabaa Jernas, Pure Jeer Farkh, Pure Jeer Jernas,

Garmoosha Farkh, Garmoosha Jernas, Hurr Wahish Shaheen, Hurr Wahish Farkh and Jernas in addition to RC Airplanes category with the top 10 qualifying for the final round. The highlight of the competition will be the crowning of champions in the third of the Fazza Falconry Championship series with Super Finals (‘Al Nukhba’) in the elite Sheikhs category of ‘Farkh’ and ‘Jernas’ events. There will also be an event for juniors in Tabaa Wahish and Tabaa Jeer followed by the finals of Farkh and Jernas events.
 
Healthy tradition
Ms. Suad Ibrahim Darwish, Director of Championships at HHC, said tournaments like the Fazza Championships for Falconry has firmly preserved a healthy tradition with Emirati contestants keen to continue the rich cultural heritage of the nation. 

“We have seen a marked increase in the standard of competition because of the entry of foreigners whereas two decades ago it was limited to local participants.

Our thanks to the cooperation of local, Arab and foreign media for these tournaments, which comes with the support of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, whose aim is to bring together falconers to practice their passion in healthy competition,” she said.
 
Ms. Suad Ibrahim Darwish also praised the volunteers, sponsors and government institutions, including the Dubai Civil Defence, Dubai Municipality and the Dubai Corporation of Ambulance Services and the Dubai Police, for helping the Fazza Falconry Committee to maintain the high level of technical and organizational aspects to ensure a smooth competition.

Finalists
All the finalists in both the Jeer Shaheen Farkh and Jeer Shaheen Jernas events in the Sheikhs category went under 18 seconds reflecting the high standard of competition with the falcons in peak form in idyllic conditions for the sport of falconry.

F3K falconer Khalifa Ahmed Bin Mijrin whose falcon clocked the second fastest time of 17.393 seconds in the Jeer Shaheen Farkh event, had four qualifiers for the finalis, including a fourth-place entry which clocked 17.513 seconds. MRM falconer Mohammed Sultan Matar Markhan recorded the third fastest time of 17.487 second in this event.

Khalifa Ahmed Bin Mijrin (F3K) had five out of 11 qualifiers in the Jeer Shaheen Jernas event with his falcons taking the first and third places in the qualifying round with times of 17.214 and 17.479 seconds.

F3R falconer Suhail Saeed Sultan Al Kindi’s entry clocked the second fastest time of 17.374 while Obaid Khalifa Budhom Al Muhairi was placed fourth clocking 17.480.

Such was the closeness of the competition there was tie for ninth place in the Jeer Shaheen Jernas event with the falcons of Suhail Saeed Sultan Al Kindi (F3R) and Khalifa Ahmed Mijrin (F3K) clocking an identical time of 17.602 seconds.
