Al Ain and du LaLiga HPC lead the standings table
Al Jazeera point loss streak continues; Al Ahli recovered their first week loss

5 February 2017, Dubai, UAE – du UAE FAAL witnessed fierce competition in its second week with teams battling it out across the UAE to earn their place at the top of the League standings.

After only one week of play in the UAE’s official FA Academy League, strong contenders have gathered at the top of the table, leaving others scrambling to catch up, resulting in some of the most exciting football matches to date.

du LaLiga HPC scored a critical victory against PSG Academy, giving du LaLiga HPC 6 points, which enabled them to move up the top of the table with a goal difference with leaders Al Ain Club.

A crisp pass from Ahmed Arif of du LaLiga HPC to Mohannad Wahdan minutes into the second half opened the score line and the team held the lead as striker Ramy Hatem hit the back of the net again moments later, leading the team to a clean 2-0 sweep.

Al Jazeera had a losing streak for the second consecutive week, this time against Al Ahli Club, who made up for their loss against du LaLiga HPC last week and increasing Al Ahli’s scores by 3 points.

Al Ahli’s Walid Batal opened the score line with a superb header five minutes into the second half and led his team to score another powerful goal 10 minutes later.   Man of the match Al Ahli goalie Sultan Ma’aid, made a stunning save from a penalty shot and another from a free kick moments later to secure his team’s 2-0 win.

In another surprising turn of events, E-Sports Academy faced a crushing defeat against Al Ain, despite a clean 4-0 win last week against Emirates Club. Al Ain’s win gave them 6 points to reach the top of the League table.

With a home advantage Al Ain Club played with confidence and strength, David Guei scoring his first goal 4 minutes into the match and finishing the game with a hat-trick and 3 more goals for the final 6-0 score.

The biggest upset this week was Abu Dhabi Elite Team’s painful loss to FCB Scola, despite Abu Dhabi Elite’s breezy 8-1 win against Legends last week.

Omar Zeidan from Abu Dhabi Elite who opened the score line with the first goal 2 minutes into the first half, FCBEscola’s Syam scored their first goal, as a penalty, before the half time whistle.   FCBEscola dominated the second half, with precise passes, structured tactics, and impeccable ball control coupled with strong defensive tactics and 4 direct shots on goal put them in the lead for the final 5-1 result.

The matches of TFA vs PSG and Emirates Club vs Elite Academy, originally scheduled for Saturday, will be rescheduled for a later date.

Speaking about the league, Hussein Murad, CEO of Inspiratus, the organizers of the league said, “The competition in UAE FAAL was very intense this week, which acted as a wake-up call to teams who trailed in the first week. It is fantastic to see these young footballers from clubs and private academies across the UAE coming together to play football in this league that is enabling them, for the first time in the UAE, to compete against each other and push each other to elevate their technical and physical skills.  We are excited to follow the progress of the teams this season.”
