Season 1 of Danube Dubai Fashion league ends in style

Dubai, March 15, 2017:  The curtains came down on Dubai Fashion League 2017, the three-day fashion extravaganza held at the Dusit Thani Hotel, where top designers of the fashion world unveiled their best for the UAE elite.  The three days saw beautiful designs from top Asian designers including Anjalee and Arjun Kapoor, Rocky S, Fatiz and Divya Reddy being showcased by some of the modelling world’s biggest names. Conceptualized and organized by Masterpiece Events, DFL 2017 the exciting event enthralled the audience with stunning designer creations.

Anjalee and Arjun Kapoor opened Day 1 with their striking creation, The Persian Flora collection. Inspired by the Achaemenid Architecture, the collection combined the intricacies of floral patterns with the grandeur of Persian beauty. The collection included bridal, pre-bridal and a gown couture compilation with heavy to minimalistic looks.

Noushija Fatiz, a Kerala based designer also showcased her collection called Fatiz, which saw a heavy influence of the Mughal era in its style, material and cuts. The heavy lehengas and gowns reflected the Mughal romance and the colours brought out deep toned structures. Bollywood celebrity of Jaane tu ya jaane na fame, Manjari Fadnis was the showstopper for Fatiz.

Day 1 closed with a spectacular collection by Rizwan Ahmed, well known for his mix of traditional work with contemporary cuts. Pastels and embellishments dominated the collection with beige and white being clear favourites. The styles gave a peek into the traditional era that has stood the test of time and still has fashion enthusiast craving for the designs to make a comeback.

With her beautiful collection, designer Divya Reddy opened day 2 of the Dubai Fashion League. The collection was dominated by pastel colours with fluid silhouettes. Divya Reddy’s designs were soft and sensuous with a modern touch. The richness of handloom combined with other modern fabrics made for a perfect story of romanticism.

Shravan Kumar kept minimalistic design patterns, beige and cream colours as his palette for the collection. It reflected the purity of Indian cultures with a rich heritage. The sarees were embellished with gold and silver and the men’s collection was largely designed for an indo-western look. A lot of jacket over kurtas made a comeback in Shravan’s designs. The patterns were simplistic yet elegant.

Designer and stylist Sanaa Khan closed day 2 of DFL with a stunning collection inspired by the silk route. Inspired by florals and fitted cuts, the collection was a contemporary ode to the ancient network of trade routes for cultural interactions. The designs and materials were a mix of work inspired by various ancient Asian cities that formed a big part of the fashion revolution. The colour theme was minimalistic, the collection was a mix of blue, white and black. Beautiful flower patterned kurtas, legging pants with work, sheer patialas and embellished jackets added charm to the collection.

Bright hues were the flavour of the season for the budding designer duo, Sukriti and Aakriti on day 3. The collection had a lot of bright yellows, blues, greens and gold over blacks. Their bohemian style kurtas, lehengas and palazzos brought back Bollywood of 60’s and 70’s to DFL’s ramp. Gota work in gold and silver hues added a touch of elegance to the beautiful creations. The outfits were comfortable and showcased a major influence from boho-chic designs. The collection saw soft fabrics used with carefully designed embellishments making the collection a hit with those looking for occasion wear.

Australian – Indian designer Rajat Tangri’s collection focused on contemporary silhouettes with hand-finishing detailing. Teal, red and black formed the core colours throughout the line. Raw silk made a major comeback in Rajat’s designs. Sequins and embellishments reigned also supreme in the gorgeous clothing line.

The curtains were drawn on DFL 2017 with Bollywood designer Rocky S. Known for his contemporary and stylish designs, Rocky S’s collection held up to its name. The clothing line featured flowers intricately done in beautiful coloured net material and cottons. Flowing silhouettes seemed to be the flavour for DFL and this collection was no different. Beautiful structures, flowing gowns, pattered jackets and sequins were all part of his showcase.
