Empower achieved LEED Gold Certification for its 3rd plant in Business Bay

Bin Shafar: ‘Empower’s strategy focuses on further efficient use of eco-friendly technologies’
Dubai, UAE, 16 March 2017: Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (EMPOWER), the world’s largest district cooling services provider, has achieved LEED Gold Certification from the US Green Building Council for its 3rd cooling plant located in Business Bay in Dubai. Receiving this certificate honors Empower’s efforts to preserve the environment as the company is always keen to keep its projects up to the international standards at a time Empower’s work goes in line with the US Green Building Council strategy to promote green buildings globally.
Empower’s3rd plant getting this certificate shows the company’s commitment to adopt most stringent sustainability policy implemented in the cooling servicesindustry. This is not the first time Empower receives the gold certification from the US Green Building Council where it has received this certification earlier for its 2nd business bay plant and for its warehouses in Al Qouz, which show its pioneering leadership in the green buildings field.
“We, at Empower, always work under the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to adopt latest international standards and eco-friendly policies in all of our projects. We are really pleased by achieving this gold certification which comes from a prestigious authority like the the US Green Building Council. This certification will motivate us to put more efforts to guarantee that all of our future projects are compatible with international standards,” said HE Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower.

Empower currently operates more than 1.25 Million RT, providing environmentally responsible district cooling services to large-scale real estate developments such as Jumeirah Group, Business Bay, Jumeirah Beach Residence, Dubai International Financial Centre, Palm Jumeirah, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Ibn Battuta Mall, Discovery Gardens, Dubai Healthcare City, Dubai World trade Centre Residences, Dubai Design District, among others.
