March 20, 2017- In line with the UAE vision to foster a culture of happiness and positivity at the local level, the General Secretariat of the Supreme Legislation Committee organised a presentation that focused on introducing key initiatives instilling happiness and positive thinking among its employees. The presentation gave special attention to knowledge enrichment and individual skill development not only to help staff members address both personal and professional challenges in a positive manner, but also build social cohesion in the workplace.

The presentation titled ‘Happiness and Positive Energy’ was organised following the call of H.E. Ohood bint Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Happiness, for all government entities in Dubai to launch quality initiatives under the theme ‘Giving is Happiness,’ with the objectives of spreading happiness, instilling positive values, and reinforcing the spirit of giving. The Minister’s call was made in line with the ‘National Happiness and Positivity Program’ ahead of the annual global celebration of International Day of Happiness on March 20.

During the presentation, Dr. Jasim Al Ali elaborated on happiness and positive energy and shared with the participants some essential tips on having and maintaining a happy perspective in life which could help develop their character, strengthen their ability to cope with work pressure, and strengthen their bond with their colleagues. Dr. Al Ali highlighted the positive impact of spreading positive energy and optimism on the performance, productivity, and overall well-being of employees. Fostering positive thinking within local communities will help catapult Dubai into the ranks of the world’s happiest and most progressive and innovative nations by 2021.

H.E. Ahmed bin Mishar Al Muhairi, SLC Secretary General, emphasized that community happiness as envisioned by the UAE wise leadership starts with having cheerful employees. H.E. Al Muhairi cited H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, who once stated, ‘the government's main task is to ensure that conditions are conducive for delivering happiness to individuals, families and employees and promoting positivity as a core value in the local community.’ H.E. Al Muhairi assured that the SLC General Secretariat is fully committed to making happiness and positivity a lifestyle, with an ultimate aim of advancing the UAE global leadership and achieving the goals of Dubai Plan 2021.

H.E. Bin Meshar added: “We at the SLC believe that negative energy limits the ability of employees to create, innovate, and get out of their comfort zones. In this light, we take care to promote a culture of optimism and happiness within our organization by providing possibilities and favourable opportunities that spread positive vibes as well as building a distinct and fair work environment for our employees. This presentation supports our efforts to provide a stimulating work environment that encourages innovation, professionalism and outstanding performance as part of our efforts to create a distinguished legal environment guided by well-informed, forward-looking legislation, and sound and effective legal opinions.” This presentation supports our efforts to provide a stimulating work environment that encourages innovation, professionalism and outstanding performance as part of our efforts to enhance and strengthen Dubai’s legislative process and legal system.”

It is noteworthy that a number of participating managers and employees commended the General Secretariat for its efforts to create an integrated work environment as part of its objective to build an integrated legislative system that supports Dubai’s sustainable development. During the event, the attendees took part in a training workshop to identify various creative and positive styles of thinking, as well as raise awareness of different ways to make positive personal and professional changes. The participants also had the opportunity to learn about the role of multiple types of human energy in their professional life, in addition to recognising the four steps of transmitting positive energy in the work environment.
