•    Accreditation permits Certificate Authorities within DarkMatter’s Public Key Infrastructure operations to issue certificates to secure high-performance computer resources and supercomputer nodes

Abu Dhabi and Dubai, UAE – 18 April 2017

DarkMatter, the international cyber security firm headquartered in the UAE, announces its accreditation by the Interoperable Global Trust Federation (IGTF) at the EUGridPMA meeting held at the Galileo Galilei Institute for Theoretical Physics in Florence, Italy.

The accreditation permits certain Certificate Authorities within DarkMatter’s Public Key Infrastructure operations to issue certificates to secure high-performance computer resources and supercomputer nodes that are being used to advance the very boundaries of modern science. Researchers holding DarkMatter certificates are now trusted to access supercomputing resources anywhere in the world, including those of the Large Hadron Collider being utilised in Geneva, Switzerland to probe the nature of the Universe.

The IGTF facilitates trust services to the global scientific community, encouraging the adoption of best practices for other key elements of IT service infrastructures such as management of community attributes; the operation of credential stores and user credential management; and the integration of research and education federations for use in distributed IT infrastructures for research.

Taking the requirements of researchers and the resource centres and matching them with the capabilities and requirements of trusted identity authorities – both of whom are full members of the IGTF policy management authorities – establishes the minimum requirements for the global trust fabric. The IGTF explicitly encourages participation by cross-national and global relying parties and infrastructures.

Commenting on the recent accreditation, Scott Rea, Senior Vice President of Public Key Infrastructure at DarkMatter said, 'We are pleased to be recognised by the IGTF as a trusted issuer of security credentials for the world’s researchers, and in so doing helping facilitate the expansion of knowledge through scientific discovery.'

Scott Rea continued, 'The brightest minds in the UAE and further afield can now more easily share their research with the global scientific community, helping bring recognition and opportunities for collaboration to the exceptional talent of local e-science practitioners. This development is also fully aligned with the nation’s desire to advance knowledge-based programmes and initiatives.”

DarkMatter’s PKI activities are an integral component of the many unique solutions under development by the firm, including Crypto Libraries, a Blockchain Software Development Kit, Secure Communications hardware and applications; and advanced Big Data and Analytics tools.

The IGTF consists of close to a hundred members made up of accredited authorities, relying parties, and key global stakeholders, organised in three regional policy management authorities:

APGridPMA - covering the Asia-Pacific region from India to New Zealand
EUGridPMA - covering Europe, the Middle East and Africa
TAGPMA - covering all of the Americas from Alaska to Patagonia
