Dubai-UAE: 30 April 2017 – The Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government (MBRSG) hosted the inaugural meeting of the UAE Association for Management Consultants and Trainers (AMCT) on its premises in Dubai. The newly established Dubai-based public interest organization serves as an umbrella entity for management consultants and trainers across the UAE.

During the meeting, a representative of the Ministry of Community Development delivered a presentation on public interest organizations, their objectives, future development, and relevant legal issues. The founding committee of AMCT then proceeded to vote for board members, electing His Excellency Dr Ali Sebaa Al Marri, Executive President of MBRSG, as Chairman, and Dr Abdul Salam Al Madani, Chairman of INDEX Holding, as Deputy Chairman, Dr Ibrahim Sebaa Al Marri, Director of the Knowledge Department at Dubai Police, is the new AMCT Secretary, while Mohammed Bouhnad, from Dubai Police, has assumed charge as the Association’s Chief Financial Officer.

The UAE Association for Management Consultants and Trainers is the first of its kind in the GCC region and the second in the Arab world, with a similar organization in existence in Jordan. Both entities received certification from the International Council of Management Consulting Institutes (CMC), a global professional body that aims to enhance cooperation among management consulting entities.
His Excellency Dr Ali Sebaa Al Marri said: “Management consulting and training professionals need a framework that ensures the highest level of standards according to global best practices. AMCT aims to define the legal and ethical frameworks of the management consulting profession, and create a detailed plan to develop professional skills in the field in line with global trends.”
He added: “The Association is the first institution in the GCC region that caters to the needs of the management consulting and training profession amid the rising demand for consultants from all sectors.”
The scope of work of the newly established organization includes certification of trainers and consultants according to local and international requirements, as well as supporting members and enhancing their competitiveness in the UAE and abroad. Furthermore, AMCT seeks to develop and implement rules and regulations that govern the management consulting and training profession, conduct research, produce industry studies, create platforms to exchange expertise with similar organizations abroad, host conferences, and participate in international events.
Management consultancy has a long-standing tradition in the UAE. From the outset of the country’s journey, the government has relied on the advice of experts from various sectors to achieve optimal results with the utmost efficiency.
A recent report published by the Commercial Registration and Licensing Unit at the Department of Economic Development revealed that 6,731 consulting companies currently operate in Dubai alone. In the public sector, a study conducted by the UK’s Institute for Government reaffirmed the importance of consultants in connecting governments with the public, devising strategic plans, forecasting future challenges and opportunities, and providing insight on low-risk best practices.
