Abu Dhabi Fund for Development Organizes Lecture on Principles of Innovation

Abu Dhabi-UAE: 3 May, 2017 – Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) organized a lecture on the principles of innovation. The lecture, hosted in cooperation with the Tafkeer-IVI-Institute of Vocation Innovation, reinforces ADFD’s sustained efforts to foster a culture of innovation among its employees, improve job performance and meet the standards of excellence.

His Excellency Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi, Director General of Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD), said: “ADFD's interest in innovation stems from its keenness to implement the vision of the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the wise directives of the UAE leadership that emphasize the importance of innovation in supporting the country's progress, growth and development.”

He added: “ADFD plays a monumental role in supporting and financing innovative projects on a global level. Moreover, the Fund is a leader in global development work and supports innovation through partnerships with international and regional institutions that promote sustainable development work.”

The lecture elaborated on the importance of creating a stimulating environment for innovation in different institutions, expanding support for innovation incubators, focusing on research and development, and providing technological infrastructure that supports and stimulates innovation in all fields.

Maitha Al Kaabi from Tafkeer-IVI-Institute of Vocation Innovation led the lecture addressing the concepts of innovation, the principles of innovation and creativity management, innovation in the UAE and the national strategy for innovation. 

Furthermore, she highlighted the importance of instilling a culture of innovation in the public and private sectors through the application of different innovation principles and creativity. 

In addition, she noted the significance of building individuals with high entrepreneurial skills by reinforcing national talent and capacity for innovation, focusing on science, technology and engineering, and developing innovative teaching materials in schools and universities.

In conclusion, she lauded the institution’s message to provide the best practices for Emiratis, particularly government sector employees through developing their skills and working methods, thereby successfully leading an active involvement in the labor market.
