Dubai, UAE: 17 May 2017:  A home is a place where people want to feel good, safe, secure and relaxed. However in today’s fast paced and highly complex world, time is a luxury that many individuals do not have much of especially when it relates to daily household activities. Many of these people end up spending more money hiring outside help or perhaps even eat our and prolong cleaning choses that significantly affects health. However, times are changing especially with the introduction of a smart home.

“Smart home appliances offer user-centric solutions and constantly work for the homeowner to provide them with the ability to spend more time with the family and friends as well as save on monthly expenses that over time can be invested in a variety of assets or perhaps even towards a retirement fund,” said Yong Geun Choi, President, LG Electronics Gulf. “Whatever may be the motivation, the smart home appliance market is forecasted to be a lucrative industry to be in.”

According to a recent report by Statista, in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region, revenue in the “Smart Home” market amounts to USD 282 million in 2017. In addition revenue is expected to show an annual growth rate (CAGR) of 49.7 percent leading up to 2021, resulting in a market volume of USD 1,418 million in 2021.

Smart connected appliances offer intuitive control to simplify the lives of consumers, saving time and energy through personalization by offering customized solutions in every area of the home – including the kitchen.

“In the near future, technological advances in usability and connectivity will eventually enable appliances to actively interact with other, recommending recipes from ingredients store in the refrigerator whilst also providing consumers the option to 3D print their meals – that can potentially result in significant cost savings and have a positive impact in people,” said Choi

Across the world, dust is a common trigger causing allergies. In fact, a recent study illustrated that 63 percent of people agree their house is not as clean as they’d like to be while 7 in 10 admit that they simply do not have time to perform daily house upkeep resulting in turning to hired help.

For those that lack time, the solution is to clean smarter not harder. Robotic cleaners like the LG CordZeroTM are now available that automatically clean tight and usually overlooked spaces that are hard to access with traditional cleaning equipment.

Minimizing dust in any environment reduces the changes of falling ill, spending more on additional help, doctors, medicine and more.

A recent report by the International Renewable Energy Agency stated that across the GCC, electricity consumption is expected to reach 856 terawatt-hours by 2020, requiring 100GW of additional power over the next 10 years to meet demand. To address this issue, GCC countries have collaborated in developing a joint Gulf power grid to develop the region’s electricity network – which has already led to savings of USD 3 billion in investments in addition to a savings of USD 330 million of operating costs and fuel.

However, overall savings will only be amplified with the implementation and application of eco-friendly smart home appliances. Take for example air conditioning which is an essential necessity in the region. Smart home appliances like LG’s Dual Invertor is equipped with the Dual Inverter CompressorTM engineered to consumer 70 percent less electricity whilst providing 40 percent faster cooling.

Furthermore in homes, washing machines account for approximately 25 percent of a household’s water usage while dryers take up 12 percent of residential energy by consumption – however utilizing certain smart appliances can significantly reduce the costs associated with power consumption and lead to direct savings.

Front-loading washing machines tend to consume 50 percent less water and between 30 to 85 percent less energy than top-loading washing machines. Investing in smart washing machines such as LG’s TWINWashTM washes clothes simultaneously in shorter life cycles and with LG SmartThinQTM, both energy efficiency and powerful performance is guaranteed by providing users with remote control of their appliances.

Smart automated homes conserves time and money by optimizing the house according to the consumer’s personal lifestyle preferences. Trendsetting digital assistants such as LG’s Hub Robot has the ability to take control of the home to provide unprecedented convenience. Equipped with Amazon Alexa’s voice recognition technology, the robot can perform household tasks, set alarms, create memos, display images of refrigerator content, and even provide weather and traffic updates. It can even monitor the daily activities of household members and can even personalize greetings for each family member enhancing the ultimate smart home experience and paving the way for the future of smart homes and IoT appliances.
