UAE, May 23, 2017– In line with the declaration of 2017 as the ‘Year of Giving,’ a delegation of directors and officers from the Department of Economic Development – Ajman (DED Ajman) visited the Khalifa Hospital in the emirate. During the tour of the facility, they met patients and presented them with souvenirs, offering moral and psychological support to bring them joy. The is in line with the ‘Giving Hands’ campaigns – one of the three initiatives launched by H.H. Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, as part of the ‘Year of Giving’ initiative with the aim to inculcate the spirit of volunteerism, service and responsibility among the UAE community.

Majid Hamad Al Matrooshi, Director of Promotion and Events Department, DED Ajman, said: “The visit to the Khalifa Hospital demonstrates the Department’s responsibility towards its nation, community and people as well as its commitment towards voluntary community services and goodwill which aligns with the vision of the country’s leadership. We support the ‘Giving Hands’ initiative as a tremendous response to announcement of 2017 as the Year of Giving, where H.H. Shaikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, has stated that ‘the call is for everyone.’ We look forward to the success of our initiatives, supporting national efforts to promote the values of philanthropy as one of the fundamental principles of our vision to build a thriving economy for the welfare of the residents of Ajman.”

“The visit played a key role in achieving our efforts to make the ‘Giving Hands’ initiative a success. It has enabled the staff of DED Ajman to participate in voluntary, charitable and humanitarian work either through field visits to hospitals or by giving a helping hand to current or future charity initiatives that benefit the community of Ajman. We will continue to organize voluntary events and charitable activities that supports the ‘Year of Giving 2017’ through three quality initiatives, including ‘Giving Hands,’ ‘Good Investors,’ and ‘Good Corner’ campaigns,” concluded Al Matrooshi.
