Customs World takes part in Port Efficiency Conference in Ghana

Dubai, UAE 7th June 2017:  In a step to develop relations with Ghana and to build up more momentum towards an official business partnership, a delegation from Customs World, a subsidiary of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC), has recently visited the Republic of Ghana to attend the Port Efficiency Conference in the Ghani capital Accra.  The delegation included Faisal Eissa Lutfi, CEO of Customs World, and Adolphe Chaiban, Head of Development at Customs World.

Ghana organized this conference and invited Customs World to learn about the best practices followed in customs and ports as part of a reform national program. Customs World was selected to inspire and talk about the best useful customs practices adopted at Dubai Customs which has the best customs experience in the world.

As part of the visit, Customs World delegation met with Dr Mahamodu Keerimatin, Vice-President of Ghana, Cuaco Aufori, Minister of Transport, Alan Kerematin, Minister of Trade and Industry, Mohammed Awal, Minister of Business Development and Cufi Niti, General Commissioner of Revenue Authority in Ghana.

The Ghani ministers and senior officials listened to a presentation from Faisal Lutfi on Dubai Customs experience in promoting customs procedures and services, and its global distinctive role in innovating new customs services and products. The presentation also included information on the advanced applications and experiences that Customs World can provide to advance customs procedures and services in the friendly countries.

Faisal Eissa reaffirmed the importance of experience and knowledge exchange between customs administrations worldwide.

“This helps towards easier and quicker service delivery. Time is important and more connectivity with other customs administrations will save time and effort, and will help in facilitating trade and enhancing economic growth worldwide” he explained.

Lutfi said that adding a real value to all customs administrations seeking to learn from Dubai experience is a priority to Customs World.

“Our distinctive experience in advancing customs procedures and services will help facilitate clearance transactions and promote trade through the adoption of the most advanced smart IT information applications in the field” he added.

Lutfi pointed out that Jebel Ali Port handles 16 million TEU’s a year and that exceeds the UK.

“We are home to more than 300 companies out of the Fortune 500 companies, so no wonder that our Port is one of the busiest ports, and our airport is the busiest in the world. Dubai Customs is ranked the 3rd best in the world. 80% of trade in the UAE comes through Dubai ports. 50% of trade in the middle east comes from us” he explained.

The Customs World visit will be followed by other visits and meetings with highest Ghani officials towards an official partnership that will see Ghani adopt the best practices followed by Dubai Customs.
