Dubai, UAE, June 14, 2017:  UAE-headquartered TIME Hotels has embraced the spirit of giving by distributing 200 Iftar boxes to the needy through Al Shabab Al Arabi Club.

The food bank donation is in line with the UAE’s Year of Giving campaign launched by UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The 200 boxes were prepared by staff at the TIME Oak Hotel & Suites and TIME Grand Plaza Hotel, with delivery managed by the Al Shabab Al Arabi Club in coordination with Dubai Municipality.

The boxes contained: biryani, salad, hummus, dates, a Ramadan sweet, pickles and juice.

Mohamed Awadalla, CEO of TIME Hotels, said: “It is important, especially during this the Holy Month of Ramadan, that we remember those less fortunate than ourselves. This is a tremendous gesture from Al Shabab Al Arabi Club and Dubai Municipality and we are delighted to support this initiative.”
The Year of Giving programme is based around three main pillars: Corporate Social Responsibility, Volunteering and Serving the nation. All initiatives and programmes launched throughout the year will reflect the three pillars, engaging citizens in an effort to entrench the values of philanthropy and altruism throughout all communities.

“Giving is engrained in our corporate DNA, which boasts an award-winning CSR programme aimed at adding value to people’s lives and the community in general through a combination of cash or in-kind donations, education and employee engagement activities,” said Awadalla.

TIME Hotels also distributed 100 Iftar boxes to taxi drivers over a two-day period during Ramadan.

Awadalla said: “It is important to support the local community and give back, especially during the Holy Month of Ramadan. Taxi drivers, in particular, have a difficult job and often find it tough to enjoy a balanced and nutritious Iftar. Through this donation we are making it easier for them to break their fast, with a healthy Iftar box to keep them on the go.”

TIME Hotels has been involved in a range of activities designed to give back to and support communities at a local level and on the global stage. This includes long service awards to recognize staff, community rubbish collections, blood donation drives and a food exchange programme.
