Abu Dhabi-UAE: 21 June, 2017 – Educators, investors and key members of the construction teams gathered in Dubai to mark the start of construction on the latest addition to the city’s burgeoning education sector. Brighton College and Dwight Schools International are working together in creating a brand-new campus in Al Barsha South, Dubai, as well as a Centre of Excellence for Arabic Language, Arts and Culture that will be shared by the students of both schools. In addition, the Centre will also welcome interested visitors from the wider community.

The new schools have commenced construction following final approval by the KHDA in Dubai, with the appointment of Airolink International Construction LLC as the main contractor, one of the emirates’ leading contractors for such projects.

Sameh Muhtadi, CEO of Bloom Holding, said: “These exciting projects are significant additions to the education landscape in Dubai, adding up to 4,000 full-time places for students in the 3-18 age group, equipped with all the facilities they need for sporting, intellectual and creative development in a nurturing, multi-cultural environment.”

When complete, the new campuses in Al Barsha South will comprise two fully equipped schools capable of educating up to 4,000 pupils, from Preparatory School (ages 3–13) through to Senior School (ages 13–18). Complementing the campuses will be an independent Centre of Excellence for Arabic Language, Arts and Culture, a multi-disciplinary facility for the teaching and study of Arabic language and cultural activities, including a library for the conservation and display of important heritage works for the region, language laboratories, exhibition space, and a fully-equipped public auditorium with seating for 680 guests.

The new campuses intend to unite and celebrate the best of international education (International Baccalaureate at Dwight School, and A-Levels at Brighton College), Arabic culture, and global cooperation to provide a truly international outlook for their students.

The campuses will also have a full range of sporting and athletic facilities, including an Olympic-sized swimming pool, full-size soccer pitch and a 400 m running track.

Commenting on the development, Henning Fries, CEO of Bloom Education said: “This is an important step for us, and represents a major investment in offering truly international education for our students, bringing together the best of UK and US IB  education systems with the Centre of Excellence for Arabic Language, Arts and Culture. This gives students a global perspective and a real grounding in Arabic language, culture and heritage. So equipped, they will be unbeatable on the world stage.”

Brighton College Dubai and Dwight School Dubai are accepting pupils for full-time study for the 2018 / 2019 academic year.
