Coordinating with entities and companies helps DLD to improve its outstanding government performance

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 19th August 2017:  Dubai Land Department (DLD) has strengthened its partnerships with a number of government entities as part of its ongoing efforts to integrate Dubai’s various institutions, improve government performance, achieve the highest standards of excellence and ensure customer satisfaction.

Hamdan Hamad Al-Madhani, Director of Rental Relationship Regulation Department at DLD, commented: 'As a result of the enhanced cooperation between government entities, we are now working with a number of entities including Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (DEWA). To achieve the desired level of integration, a workshop was organised where representatives from any DLD registered Real Estate Companies as well as real estate service trustees could present proposals, share observations, and state their opinions regarding lease contracts registered in “Ejari” system and DEWA’s requirements.”

The workshop covered the procedures for registering lease contracts, which were developed by the DLD and DEWA teams, as well as the first stage of technical requirements that will be implemented to improve the parties’ systems. The main objective is to allow DEWA and DLD to achieve their common goal of facilitating procedures and improving customer satisfaction as part of their ongoing development of government services.

Al-Madhani added: 'Thanks to this coordination, DEWA service transactions will be easier to accomplish than ever before, as customers will no longer need to review and submit documents multiple times. This is part of a wider integration of government services that aim to save customers both time and effort.”

It is now possible for customers to register lease contracts and complete transactions with several government entities in one go, including the Department of Economic Development and a number of others in addition to DEWA. DLD’s partnerships with government institutions are crucial to this endeavour, as they allow department systems to be linked. Customers can also renew commercial licenses and complete the new licensing requirements via user-friendly smart applications, as long as they have a registered lease.

The ‘Ejari’ smart application launched by DLD is one of the most commonly used channels for registering leases, as it facilitates the process and also offers a variety of other services. It gives users the authority to register leases at any time and from anywhere in the world, and to access information including personal data, lease conditions, property statuses, rent indicators, maintenance reports, and more.

The application is currently being developed in phases to transfer also services to smart formats. An announcement will be made once technical requirements such as legal notices, filing, financial follow-up, collection and other services are completed.

To fully integrate its lease registration system, DLD has established partnerships with nine government entities to date. In addition to DEWA and the Department of Economic Development, DLD also cooperates with the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, RTA; Dubai Municipality; Awqaf and Minors Affairs; the Tourism and Commerce Marketing Authority; and the Emirates Identity Authority. The department also partners with real estate companies with property leasing and management systems, including Dubai Properties, Nakheel, Emaar, Dubai Investments Park, Asteco and Better Homes, among others.
