Khwarizmi International College hosted an E-learning workshop conducted by Abu Dhabi Education Council
Abu Dhabi: Khwarizmi International College has embarked on the e-learning initiative to provide students with online means of learning in addition to those that are traditionally taught in classrooms.
The initiative comes in line with Abu Dhabi Education Council's (ADEC) endeavor to develop education in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi through using new and diversified pedagogies to ensure that education is based on reflection, induction, investigation, critical thinking and problem solving away from the traditional way of teaching, as well as to equip students with the necessary skills that will enable them to meet labor market needs.
Khwarizmi International College has been a torchbearer in taking the lead by infusing technologies in classroom learning that have added to stimulate and enhance the learner's interaction. Aligning its intent to foster e-learning in education sector, KIC hosted an e-learning workshop at it’s, New Al-Bahia Campus in Abu Dhabi on September 13, 2017.
The workshop began with the welcome notes of Dr. Wallace Pond, KIC President and Prof Badr Aboul-Ela, Director of the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA). Dr. Wallace in his opening note stated that, “These kinds of partnerships are crucial in fostering education system of the UAE.” Prof Badr stated that, “The interactions with the learners has been increased over the past few years and we expect more higher education institutions to adopt E-learning facilities.”
The workshop covered topics like E-learning in the UAE, E-learning: the state of arts, trends and challenges in the Arab Region, Improving Classroom Instruction: An Unintended Benefit of eLearning, New approaches to QA of E-learning in the UAE, Case Study: Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University.
The aim of the workshop was to come up with an e-learning strategy that will make education more interactive and boost student performance. Also, to diversify the study process and make it more interesting, efficient and contemporary.
The workshop witnessed an overwhelming audience, majorly included students, teachers and key delegates from education sector of the UAE, displaying intense zeal and vigor. The workshop was highly interactive. The audience actively participated in the workshop. The interactive sessions and brainstorming resulted in an extremely constructive discussion on the importance of e-learning, new approaches, scopes and challenges.
KIC has always been at the forefront in implementing interactive and applied learning approaches in its courses. The institute stands out in developing a learning model that caters to the educational needs of students by equipping students with the skills they need to flourish and excel.
The workshop ended with the brainstorming session on the scope, challenges and future of E-learning in the education sector conducted by Dr. Susanna Karakhanyan, ADEC Quality Assurance Section Manager.
