  • Four SMART Tag installation centres already operating across the UAE
  • Mobile units are also now carrying out installations for vehicle fleets
  • All ADNOC Distribution service stations to convert to SMART technology in Q2’2018
Abu Dhabi, 03 October, 2017:  As part of its ‘SMART Service Stations’ initiative and introduction of cashless ADNOC Wallet-linked payment options, ADNOC Distribution; the UAE’s leading operator of retail fuel service stations and commercial fuelling services, is now expanding its SMART Tag installation facilities through new centres and mobile units serving customers throughout the country. As part of an ongoing process of replacing Rahal Cards, the company is rolling out a superior Smart Tag system installed at a vehicle’s fuel tank inlet.

The new smart technology speeds up and enhances the customer’s vehicle refuelling experience and reduces the potential for delays at peak travel times or due to high congestion. Customers who register with ADNOC Wallet can pay for their fuel purchases at SMART service stations via a Smart Tag. Customers are also able to link their ID card issued by UAE’s Emirates Identity Authority to the Wallet and use it for payment. An ADNOC Plus card is also available for ordering and use as part of the ADNOC Wallet account.

SMART Tag installation centres are now operating at Al Ramz Service Station in Musaffah, the Al Ain Main Vehicle Inspection Centre at Falaj Hazza in Al Ain, the Al Talla Service Station in Ajman and at Al Rabdan service station, located in the Al Mushrif area in Abu Dhabi. Work is also currently underway to complete more installation facilities at other locations across ADNOC Distribution’s extensive network of service stations.

Mobile units are also now carrying out installations for vehicle fleets across the UAE. The units include premier service facilities for customers who wish to book VIP installation services at their homes or office locations anywhere in the country.

Prepaid Individual and Prepaid Corporate Customers will soon be able to register and maintain their accounts from around 200 SMART service stations in addition to dedicated SMART Tag Installation Centres. Installation will be exclusively carried out by professional technicians.

Saeed Mubarak Al Rashdi, Acting Chief Executive Officer at ADNOC Distribution, said: “In only a short space of time, we have installed 20,000 tags for customers eager to take advantage of state-of-the-art technology to quicken and enhance their refuelling experience. As demand is rapidly increasing, we aim to install a significantly larger number of tags over the next two years. Our world class professionals are working to ensure that the system will immensely benefit our customers so that they will continue to enjoy the high standards of service to which they are accustomed.”

“These SMART payment options will provide customers with added convenience and safety, enabling them to manage their accounts online. The new technology will also allow them to set budgets for each fuelling transaction and simplify the refuelling process.”

Mr Al Rashdi added: “ADNOC Distribution has ambitious plans for the future, and the continued rollout of SMART tags are an innovative part of that. We are committed, in line with the ADNOC Group’s 2030 smart growth strategy, to continue developing our business and further optimizing our performance.”

We are confident that the shorter waiting times, new payment options, and peace of mind ensured by the new system will be very much to our customers’ satisfaction. By enabling accurate vehicle identification and storage of records of fuel products purchases, the new smart system also benefits customers by both enhancing their personal security and enabling the improvement of our services based on individual purchase histories.”

ADNOC Distribution currently has 210 SMART stations operating throughout the UAE. In addition to these dedicated SMART facilities, electronic payments using Rahal and credit cards are also be available at all ADNOC Distribution service stations. The company is planning to convert all its service stations to SMART technology in Q2’2018.
