Dubai, UAE, October 26, 2017:   Huawei, one of the world’s leading smartphone makers, have announced their partnership with Dubai Sports Council, coming aboard as the presenting sponsor for this year’s Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup, which will be held from October 31 to November 4.

This is the first major sport sponsorship deal by the global iconic technology giant in the UAE and the announcement comes days after the official global launch of Huawei’s Artificial Intelligence-powered Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro in Munich, Germany.

His Excellency Saeed Hareb, the General Secretary of Dubai Sports Council, welcoming Huawei aboard, said: “We are delighted to welcome Huawei, a global leader in information and communication technology, aboard as the presenting sponsor.

“The Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup is one of the most prestigious events in the sport, attracting the best teams and big crowds every year. Now, with a new stadium at Marasi Business Bay and a new sponsor, Huawei, we are confident the tournament will be an even bigger success and attract even greater crowds.”
Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Gene Jiao, President of Huawei Consumer Business Group, Middle East & Africa said: “Huawei has always been passionate about connecting people, and especially activities and moments that unite the region. We believe in celebrating speed and performance and that’s what Huawei products stand for.

“In line with that philosophy, we are proud and honoured to announce our partnership with Dubai Sports Council for the exciting Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup 2017, to power up this amazing global sports event with the latest intelligent performance technology from Huawei.”

Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai Government and Dubai Sports Council (DSC), the 7th edition of the annual beach soccer extravaganza will be held at its new home, Marasi Business Bay.

Brazil, the defending and two-time champions and 2017 Fifa Beach Soccer World Cup winners, will kick-off the proceedings, taking on Egypt in the opening match of the tournament, and that match will be followed by UAE vs Portugal. The Group B matches will take place in the second session with three-time champions Russia squaring-off against Mexico and Iran taking on Paraguay later in the night.
