November 26, 2017- The Ministry of Health and Prevention has announced that the ‘Visiting Consultants Program’ for December 2017 will cover Fujairah Hospital, Al Qassimi Hospital and Kuwait Hospital in Sharjah, and Saqr Hospital in Ras Al Khaimah. The participating doctors specializing in Neurosurgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology,  Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT),  Pediatric Nephrology,  Pediatric Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Interventional Cardiology, Vascular surgery and Ophthalmology will provide consultation, diagnostic, and therapeutic services to patients of the covered hospitals.

Dr. Karim Nawfal is an Obstetrics and Gynecology Consultant at the Clemenceau Medical Center in Beirut Lebanon, an affiliate of Johns Hopkins International. After his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the American University of Beirut, he completed a fellowship in minimally invasive and robotic gynecologic surgery at the Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, USA. His areas of expertise include minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic gynecological surgeries. Dr. Nafwal will be visiting Fujairah Hospital from December 4 to 7, 2017.

Dr Jang Jee Soo is a Consultant Neurosurgeon at Department of Neurosurgery, Suwon Nanoori Hospital in South Korea. He completed his medical training and pursued his PhD in Medical Sciences from the Chuang-Ung University, South Korea. His areas of expertise include complex multiplanar spinal deformities and minimally invasive spine surgeries.  Dr Jang Jee Soo will be visiting Fujairah Hospital on 4-5 December 2017 and Al Qassimi Hospital on 6-7 December 2017.

Dr Lee Keun is a Consultant Spine Surgeon in the Department of Neurosurgery, Incheon Nanoori Spine Hospital, South Korea. He completed his medical education and pursued his Masters in Neurosurgery at Gachon Medical School, South Korea. His areas of expertise include minimally invasive spine surgery, lumbar spine stenosis and instability, and endoscopic spine surgery. Dr Lee Keun will be visiting Fujairah Hospital on 4-5 December 2017 and Al Qassimi Hospital on 6-7 December 2017.

Dr Ashesh Bhumkar is an ENT consultant in Thane, India and is a Honorary Consultant at the University Of Mumbai. He completed his medical education and Master’s in ENT from the Pune University, India.  His areas of expertise include surgical reconstruction of the external ear and stapes surgery. Dr. Bhumkar will be visiting Al Qassimi Hospital from December 10 to 11, 2017.

Dr Jean Fajadet is the co-director of the   “Interventional Cardiology Unit” at Clinique Pasteur in Toulouse, France.   He obtained his medical degree and Diploma in Cardiology from Toulouse University Hospital.  His areas of expertise include the evaluation of new technologies in Interventional Cardiology. He will be visiting Al Qassimi hospital from 10-11 December 2017.

Dr. Kevin Meyers is the Assistant Chief of the Division of Nephrology at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia in the US. He completed his medical degree from the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa. He pursued his residency in Pediatrics at the Coronation Hospital and Baragwanath Hospital, Johannesburg and The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, where he later trained in pediatric nephrology. His areas of expertise include hypertension and transplant.  Dr. Meyers will be visiting Saqr Hospital on December 10, 2017 and Al Qassimi hospital from December 11 to 12, 2017.

Dr Barham Abu Dayyeh is a Consultant in Gastroenterology and Advanced Endoscopy - Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and the Director of Bariatric and Metabolic Endoscopy at the Mayo Clinic, Minnesota, USA. He completed his medical education from the Alpert Medical School, Brown University and pursued his Research Fellowship in Gastroenterology from the Brigham and Women's Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, USA. He attained Advanced Fellowship in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy from the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, USA. His areas of expertise include, bariatric and metabolic endoscopy, management of post bariatric surgery complications, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography, endoscopic ultrasound and complex endoscopy. Dr Barham Abu Dayyeh will be visiting Kuwait Hospital on 17 December 2017.

Dr Ahmed Assar is a Consultant Vascular Surgeon at Bedford Hospital NHS Trust & Luton & Dunstable University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, United Kingdom. He completed his medical education at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Cairo, Egypt and later attained fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons. His areas of expertise include peripheral arterial disease, arterial aneurysms, carotid artery disease, and diabetic foot infections. Dr. Assar will be visiting Fujairah Hospital from December 10 to 14, 2017.

Dr. Michael Levine is Chief of the Division of Endocrinology and Medical Director of the Center for Bone Health at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in the US. He completed his medical education at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia and his residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. He pursued a dual fellowship in Endocrinology/Metabolism and Genetics at the National Institute of Health in Maryland. His areas of expertise include endocrine diseases that affect bone and mineral metabolism, particularly osteoporosis, primary hyperparathyroidism, hypoparathyroidism, rickets and genetic bone disease. Dr. Levine will be visiting Saqr Hospital on December 17, 2017, Fujairah Hospital from December 18 to 19, 2017.

Lastly, Dr. Christopher Teng is the Director of The Glaucoma Section at the Yale Eye Center in New Haven, USA. After graduating from medical school, he completed his Ophthalmology residency at New York University Medical Center and fellowship in glaucoma at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. His areas of expertise include glaucoma and cataract evaluation and treatment. Dr. Teng will be visiting Al Qassimi Hospital from December 31, 2017 to January 1, 2018 and Fujairah Hospital from January 2 to 4, 2018.
