251% increase in Lexus HEV sales in 2017

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, January 9, 2018:  Lexus at Al-Futtaim Motors, supplier of the largest line-up of Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV) in the UAE, is reaping the benefits of its diverse Hybrid Electric range with sales rising 251% in 2017 compared with 2016.

Lexus Managing Director at Al-Futtaim Motors, Chris Buxton, attributed the hike to an increased interest in HEV technology in general, the introduction of two new HEV models in 2017 including Lexus LC 500h and LS 500h, supported by dedicated efforts and promotional activities by the brand, including a Hybrid Drive-in experience in November, dedicated HEV-only display at the Dubai International Motor Show and other incentivizing offers throughout the year.

'Being the first choice when it comes to green luxury motoring has enabled Lexus to meet the shifts in market demand and achieve high HEV sales. We will continue prioritizing our efforts in that same direction, in line with our commitment to support the targets set for the UAE Vision 2021,' Buxton said.

Launched in November, the new radically redesigned LS500h is the latest addition to the green luxury fleet at Lexus and has already recorded an impressive increase in sales thanks to its impressive powertrain smoothness, ride quietness, craftsmanship and long-term quality, in addition to its amazing new styling that combines a daring coupe-like silhouette with ample interior space.

Leading the charge is the luxury crossover Lexus RXh, with 252% increase in sales compared to 2016, in line with the model’s successful history in the UAE. Steady demand continued for CT h and GS h which has lifted sales by 257% and 160% respectively compared with last year.

HEV is the most practical environmentally-friendly solution, and comes with the advantage of imposing no infrastructure changes and no shifts in the driver’s behavior while offering uncompromised driving range and performance.

As of today, Lexus sells 10 full Hybrid Electric models globally, making it the only premium brand with such a large HEV lineup. In the UAE, Al-Futtaim Motors offers 5 luxury HEV choices including Lexus LS 500h, LC 500h, GS 450h, RX 450h and CT 200h.
