There will be five races each day from 1st to 15th February in Ruwayyah

DUBAI, 23rd January 2018:  The sixth edition of the Fakhr Al Ajyal (‘The Pride of the Generation’) Championship for Falconry Telwah organized and supervised by the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Center (HHC) will be held from 1st to 15th February 2018 in the dedicated Fazza Falconry Championship site in Ruwayyah area off Emirates Road (exit 55) in Dubai. 

HHC expect a record number of participants for the second and prestigious Fazza Falconry Championship following the success of the Fazza Championship for Falconry - Telwah held earlier this month under a new format where participants vied for Trophy, Car or Cash in each category.

“We are organizing two of the biggest falconry tournaments this season to bring together the most skilled falconers and strongest falcons,” said Ms. Suad Ibrahim Darwish, Director of Championships at HHC. “We received positive feedback from all the participants in the first championship held under the new format which has instilled a keen sense of professionalism and provides equal opportunities for everyone to enjoy success. It also saves the time and effort of falconers who have a choice of entering falcons for specific races such as the Trophy, Car or Cash event,” she said.

“We will organize the season finale Super Finals (‘Al Nukhba’) for elite falconers to at the end of the falconry championships this year, in which the winners and some of the top three players, will compete to raise the level of the championship to unprecedented levels,” added Ms. Suad Ibrahim Darwish.

Registration
The organizers HHC revealed there has been a flood of entries for the Fakhr Al Ajyal (‘The Pride of the Generation’) Championship for Falconry Telwah since registration opened for the competition on the dedicated registration page on the website, social media channels and Fazza Championship App. 
Under the new format, there will be five races each day promising exciting competition in the categories for Sheikhs, General Public, Juniors and Local participants.

Format
This year’s Championship promises to be even more exciting with the format having been changed adding to the thrill and suspense of the competition. Every event will be a virtual final since qualification rounds have been done away with except in the RC (Remote Controlled) Airplane category. As a result there will multiple winners on each day of the competition.

Quarry
The ancient art of taking wild quarry with a trained bird of prey, Falconry is a traditional and highly valued custom in the UAE, reflecting the Bedouin love of this sport. During races, the falcons are timed over a distance of 400 meters, with the best clocking around 20 seconds. They are lured using bait of pigeon wings.
The Fazza Championship for Falconry - Telwah will see competition in the Sheikhs and General Public categories, in addition to contests for Juniors, Locals and GCC participants during the 15-day tournament, in addition to RC Airplanes category.
