Dubai-UAE: 13 February, 2018 –  Session, ‘The Journey of Human Evolution’ and entitled ‘Why Evolution Leads to Mars?’ Bjarke Ingels, founder and Creative Partner of Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG). The segment explored why Mars is the next frontier for mankind.

World-renowned innovator and lead architect of the UAE’s Mars Science City project Bjarke Ingels conducted a widely visual presentation, engaging with the audience and pointing out that, over time, the advancements in technology have allowed mankind to utilize shorter hours in travelling from one end of the world to the other.

Elaborating on why Mars is the next frontier, he highlighted the resources of oxygen, carbon, and hidden water ice, and joked about the ‘fastest diet’ that could be achieved on the planet due to different gravitational forces which see 100 Earth kilos equal just 38 on Mars.

He also pointed out that there are many factors on the surface of Mars that can contribute to maintaining a successful life support system on Mars, such as hidden water ice, mountain chains and volcanic flows, (which can be considered potential energy source), making the Martian environment relatively ready to sustain human life.

He also added that with humanity enhancing its living skills, people today are able to survive in harsh environments with limited and basic resources. This means that humans could make Mars a suitable place to live by developing and building an appropriate ecosystem, grow plants, turning ice into water and producing energy, minerals and other essential elements to support the continuity of life. He also pointed out that man should take advantage of technology and innovation such as 3D printing to manufacture all the necessary materials and supplies instead of transporting it from Earth.

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the World Government Summit 2018 runs from February 11 to 13 at the Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai. The landmark event convenes more than 4,000 participants from 140 countries, including heads of state and governments, as well as top-tier representatives of 16 international organizations.

Hosting more than 130 speakers across 120 interactive sessions, WGS 2018 features six distinct forums that examine the challenges of vital sectors for the future with a view to finding the best resolutions for the greater global good. Furthermore, over 20 specialized global reports spanning key sectors and topics of the summit are being launched during the event.
