The results are in line with the UAE National Agenda target to be among the 15 highest performing countries in TIMSS worldwide

United Arab Emirates, Sharjah, 28 March, 2018:  Students from the International School of Creative Science (ISCS) in Sharjah, operated by Beam, demonstrated outstanding TIMSS (Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study) results in the longest running, large scale international assessment of mathematics and science education in the world.

The four-yearly trends assessment scored the ISCS students above the UAE National Target of 510 as per the UAE Vision 2021 and the UAE National Agenda.

In addition to being above the average score compared to other schools in Sharjah and the UAE, the results were also higher than the average scores of other British curriculum schools within the UAE and those achieved in the UK.

ISCS has set the bar in achieving the country’s vision where comparatively its students average scores rank in comparison to countries among the top 9 in Maths and among the top 6 in Science in Grade 4 and among the top 6 in Maths  and among the top 4 in Science in Grade 8. Grade 4 students achieved a score of 548 in Maths and 555 in Science, while Grade 8 students achieved a score of 543 in Maths and 558 in Science.

“We are very delighted that our students achieved outstanding results in TIMSS after paying immense efforts to reach an excellent level of success.

Data from such prestigious international assessments provide us with empowerment to further design, implement, and monitor initiatives to additionally nurture the exceptional talent of our students,” said Samar Murad, Principal of ISCS.

“We welcome the targets and recommendations set out within the report itself and will use these to help drive forward our School Improvement Plan.

We were so persistent to meet the UAE National target of 510 points, and luckily we exceeded it. This reflects nothing but our commitment to deliver high quality education in line with the international standards,” she added.

This was the 2nd year the school has participated in TIMSS after taking part for the first time in 2011.

The international large-scale assessment measures students’ achievement in mathematics and science at Grade 4 and Grade 8 every four years in over fifty countries.

The next TIMSS will occur in 2019 and Beam schools are committed to working towards achieving the Vision 2021 goals by working collectively with all stakeholders.

ISCS Muwaileh Grade 10 students also performed strongly in the PISA-based Test for Schools in 2017, which measures skills in reading, mathematics and science.

The students achieved higher scores than the PISA 2015 mean performance scores of the students in the UK, US and UAE, demonstrating an ability to compete in an international setting.

ISCS is continuously achieving outstanding results combining renowned best practices internationally, the National Curriculum of England & Wales and the UAE Arabic and Social Studies Curriculum.

Supported by its well-equipped facilities and extra-curricular activity program, the school has become an institution amongst the finest international curriculum schools in Sharjah, Dubai and the other surrounding Emirates
