Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, 24 April 2018:  The Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) is highlighting the importance of prioritizing health and safety, during its participation in the EmiratesSkills 2018 National Competition, held at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre from 23 to 25 April 2018.

ENEC is the official Health and Safety sponsor and exhibitor, emphasizing the importance of establishing a strong culture of safety in everyday life as well as in the workplace.

Around 600 UAE Nationals will compete in the 2018 edition of the EmiratesSkills National Competition, which is held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and the Head of the General Women’s Union.

Participants will demonstrate their skills in 30 different categories in the fields of craftsmanship and technology, by challenging their peers based on the standards and criteria set out by WorldSkills International.

ENEC is participating in EmiratesSkills with an interactive display stand, where attendees and participants will be able to learn about the strategic importance of the UAE Peaceful Nuclear Energy Program.

ENEC and its operating subsidiary Nawah Energy Company will demonstrate how the construction and commissioning of the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant are being done in accordance with the highest global standards of quality and safety.

ENEC will also promote the Higher Diploma in Nuclear Technology (HDNT) program scholarships to develop qualified and reliable UAE professionals who will lead the nuclear energy industry, and contribute to the transformation of the UAE into a knowledge-based economy, in line with the Abu Dhabi Plan.

Since its inception in 2009, ENEC has focused on the safe delivery of the UAE Peaceful Nuclear Energy Program.

The four units of the Barakah Nuclear Energy Program will deliver approximately 25% of the UAE electricity requirements, providing clean, efficient and reliable electricity to the UAE grid while saving up to 21 million tons of carbon emissions each year, equivalent to removing 3.2 million sedan cars from the roads.
