Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri explains how A.I. and cyber security are vital to reducing crime

7 May 2018, Dubai, United Arab Emirates:  Dubai Police has announced that it is delighted to partici-pate at next month’s Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) International Confer-ence 2018 in Dubai.

Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, the three-day conference from May 6 to 9 will see some of the world’s leading business names address topics concerning artificial intelligence, cyber security and business disruption.

Many of the topics and speeches at the IIA international conference will have crossover interest to Dubai Police.

With the emirate recently named one of the world’s safest destinations, during the Conference topics such as cyber securi-ty, digital disruption and artificial intelligence will correlate with Dubai Police’s and Dubai Government’s strategy.

Dubai Police will also be represented on the higher committee of the confer-ence to ensure all security requirements are facilitated and to ensure effective-ness.

Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, commander-in-chief of Dubai Police, said: “Dubai’s ranking as one of the world’s safest cities is a source of great pride, and we must continue to innovate and tackle new types of crime. Inter-nal auditing, particularly in areas of A.I. and cyber security, helps us to achieve our target of reducing crime rates in 2018.

“Dubai Police has begun applying A.I. methods to target criminal activity, which is why understanding the internal audit process is of such great importance.

Participants will benefit greatly from attending these sessions at the IIA International Conference.”

Dubai Police will also take part in the spectacular gala dinner to close the con-ference, showing its support with performances by the Dubai Police Band and Dubai Mounted Police horse division as well as a display of its famed patrol su-percars.

Held at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, this will be the first time the IIA International Conference has been in the MENA region. An es-timated 3,000 auditing professionals from more than 100 countries are ex-pected to attend the 70 sessions.

VIP speakers will include HE Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansoori, UAE Minister of Economy; and Mohamed Alabbar, chairman of Emaar Properties.

Other speakers include Abdullah al-Rowais, Chief Audit Executive, Etihad Etisalat Co. (Mobily); Claudia Olsson, Young Global Leader of the World Eco-nomic Forum; and the ‘youngest A.I. scientist in the world’ Tanmay Bakshi.

The international conference will focus on the key areas of auditing from best practice to the major challenges facing both public and private sectors, as well as raising awareness about the importance of internal auditing to help organi-sations achieve their objectives.

Attendees will have access to a number of educational sessions on current and emerging issues and trends, ranging from business sustainability, information security, and governance to risk, fraud, and corruption.

It will also present in-dustry best practices in addressing common challenges, as well as knowledge-sharing opportunities.
