Companies can now ensure efficient and environmentally friendly fleet management

26 June 2018, Dubai -   Managers can now record how much carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions are being released through the Fleet Management Systems & Technologies’ (FMS Tech) new tracking and reporting system. FMS Tech is on a mission to solve environmental concerns caused by trucks and fleets on the road today.

According to the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UNESCWA), the transport sector is responsible for 23 percent of CO2 emissions in the Arab countries and three-fourths of the transport related emissions are from road traffic. It also states that the CO2 emissions is the fastest growing environmental concern in the GCC and around the world, and Arab countries rank second after China with the fastest growth.

Around 60 tons of CO2 is produced every month out of which 35 percent are caused by station wagons, 30 percent by pickups, 16 percent by trucks, 13 percent by buses and 6 percent by saloons.

Presently, fleet managers can only pull a rough estimate of the carbon footprint and there is no accurate record. The information for the entire fleet is unknown without the installation of the powerful FMS Tech hardware and software. This technology automatically generates a CO2 report which details the monthly CO2 emissions, vehicles which are the cause for higher emissions and vehicles which are performing well with lower emissions.

“We have seen managers work on their footprint to decrease emissions by at least 15 percent in the first three months.” Says CEO and Founder, Bassam Al Kassar. “In some cases companies are cutting emissions by 25 percent! This improvement helps our clients fulfill corporate social responsibilities and helps to make the community we live in a better place - we are all living in this world and we all deserve to be part of a responsible community that will sustain healthy living.”

FMS Tech’s in-vehicle monitoring system (IVMS)/Telematics solutions also provides the benefits of safer transportation of goods, employee engagement, efficient fleet management with fewer vehicles on the road and better route management.

FMS Tech hopes to include more companies to their clientele in the future to further reduce CO2 emissions and improve environmental conditions in the GCC . The technology development and environmental improvements are all a part of the company’s values and goals.
