In partnership with the Emirates Red Crescent, the Aster Volunteers initiative teaches children the importance of collaboration and acceptance

Dubai, UAE – 19 August 2018:  On August 17th and 18th, Aster Hospital, Qusais hosted a two-day event that brought children together through art workshops, interactive games and team-building exercises. The “Chapter One – Life Lessons For Future Leaders” saw the involvement of more than 30 children from areas surrounding Aster Hospital Qusais as they joined 30 children from Emirates Red Crescent.

Created to encourage a sense of inclusiveness and compassion among the youth, the Aster Volunteers initiative included tree-planting activities around the hospital’s premises. The children also took part in art sessions developed to promote creativity, self-expression, and cooperation. Guided by a team of professionals, the children paired up to craft individual figurines.  Before day’s end, the children assembled the pieces together in a grand finale installation.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sherbaz Bichu, CEO Aster Hospitals, said: “It is with great pride that we invite children from different walks of life to take part in these workshops. Our aim in creating this program was to teach children the value in every person’s contributions; to show them how each piece of the puzzle can fit together to create something truly extraordinary. At Aster Hospital Qusais, we strive to enable the growth of a society that embraces its differences and comes together to create a healthier and brighter future for all.”

This event is the second in an ongoing series of events organized by Aster Hospital Qusais to promote the physical, cognitive, and social development of children.

Earlier this month, children were invited to be a part of “Digital Detox Sessions” that encouraged them to detach from their digital devices and take part in activities that included art, music, yoga & meditation.
