September 19th 2018; Dubai, UAE:   Focusing more on prevention rather than cure, Dubai’s RAK Diabetes Center, Jumeirah, is offering free ECG and cardiac consultation with Dr Mukesh Nathani, Specialist Cardiologist at the Center just ahead of the World Heart Day. Scheduled for September 22nd and 29thbetween 9am and 5pm the camp will be open to UAE residents across all ages. As a measure of encouragement the Center has further arranged a “Health Wheel”, where all visitors will get the chance to spin the wheel and win great prizes including bicycles, BP machines, weighing scales, yoga mats, skin care products and free consultations with ophthalmologist, dietician, chiropractor, fitness trainer and neurologist at the RAK Diabetes Center, Jumeirah.

To further encourage people to take stock of their heart health, RAK Diabetes Center is also offering an exclusive Healthy Heart Package which includes cardiologist consultation, ECG, 2D echo, lipid profile, and one follow up consultation, all for just AED 600. The package is valid until 31st October 2018. UAE residents can also participate in a heart-related quiz posted on the RAK Diabetes Center’s Facebook page and website and get a chance to win exciting prizes.

As per the findings of a local study revealed earlier this year, cardiac diseases account for over two-thirds of all deaths and is the biggest killer in the UAE. Another news report states that many younger people are becoming victims to cardiac issues with doctors claiming to treat patients in their twenties. A rising number of these cases are related with atrial fibrillation, or an abnormal heart rhythm characterized by rapid and irregular beating of the atria, which typically occurs to people over the age of fifty.

Dr Mukesh Nathani, Specialist Cardiologist at the RAK Diabetes Center commented: “Often people are under the impression that ECG is done when someone experiences cardiac discomfort. However, ECG can reveal several abnormalities in the heart, such as abnormalities in the heart rhythm, enlarged heart or any damages from an earlier heart attack. ECG done in stress test can reveal any fatty deposits in the coronary arteries causing significant blockages. The results of the test can serve as a life saver for many people who can take more proactive measures to improve their cardiac health and avoid heart diseases that can affect their quality of life”.

Dr Raza Siddiqui, CEO of Arabian Healthcare Group, the umbrella organisation of RAK Diabetes Center, added: “When we see people less than 30 years of age falling prey to heart diseases, the issue takes a far serious tone than ever before. The need to take control of our health cannot be stressed enough, and through this campaign, we want to encourage people to come forward and take stock of their cardiac health in particular.”

In order to educate the masses, and to create awareness, Dubai’s RAK Diabetes Center, Jumeirah, makes consistent effort to promote screening through several long and short-term programmes for diabetes management, neck, back and eye care among others that are spaced throughout the year.
