Dubai, UAE, October 17, 2018:  An urgent, up-scaled investment in more green building mega projects is crucial for the construction industry and wider society, Consolidated Contractors Company has warned.

A global leader in engineering and construction, CCC has urged fellow firms around the world to commit to scaling up their investment in green building mega projects in coming years.

The call comes as the company issues its latest Sustainability Report, reporting global revenue of $5+ billion, 1000+ projects completed worldwide, with operations in 38 countries and a workforce of 182,000.

Consolidated Contractors Company’s President of Engineering and Construction, Samer Khoury, said there was an extensive need for more green building projects internationally.

“Across the MENA region, CCC has completed six certified green building projects, and we are currently managing nine major projects aiming for certification,” Mr Khoury said.

“From a multipurpose hall in Qatar to the Abu Dhabi International Airport Midfield Terminal Building, Opera Grand in Dubai, City Centre Almaza in Egypt and major mega projects in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kazakhstan and Palestine – we have seen outstanding results with a company-wide commitment to green projects.

“Construction companies play a vital role in promoting long-term sustainable value for society. For the very near future, we see green building mega projects as a crucial investment globally.

“Companies need to align their sustainability priorities with the global sustainability agenda – using energy and resources efficiently, minimising emissions, protecting biodiversity and using sustainable materials and renewable energy.

“The choices we make now, and in the near future, will ensure the existence of prosperous economies, inclusive societies and a sustainable natural environment.

“We are proud of our efforts and have worked hard to promote sustainability through minimising environmental impacts, and the rigorous and transparent reporting of environmental metrics.

“Our latest Sustainability Report launched this month, covering 2016/2017, also highlights our focus on improved corporate governance, creating a safe and motivating workplace, conducting business ethically, respecting human rights and building long-term partnerships.

“Sustainability, for us, is crucial corporately and economically – we feel a heightened sense of responsibility and want to ensure other construction firms follow suit.”

CCC aligns its sustainability objectives and strategy with the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The company is a strong, proud advocate of the global sustainability agenda.

CCC’s sustainability strategy is based on the pillars of sustainable development: Economy, Environment and Society, and includes the consistent effort to ensure business ethics, anti-corruption, anti-bribery policies and sustainable growth in all forms of its operations.
