Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Serena Williams and Venus Williams came together to mark the start of the much-anticipated tournament today at the International Tennis Centre, Zayed Sports City

Abu Dhabi, UAE 27th December 2018:   The Mubadala World Tennis Championship (MWTC) opens its doors to the public today and organizers, FLASH entertainment, celebrated the start of what is set to be one of the greatest sporting events the Capital has ever seen, by bringing together some of tennis’ finest male and female players.

World numbers one and two, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal, joined seven-time Grand Slam winner Venus Williams and 23-time Grand Slam Champion Serena Williams this morning, on Centre Court at the International Tennis Centre, Zayed Sport City to officially announce the start of MWTC. Together, this awesome foursome has a whopping total of 61 Grand Slam titles between them!

While on court, the players all signed oversized tennis balls, which will be given away throughout the tournament to lucky attendees – stay tuned by following MWTC social channels (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter*) to find out where and when these will be handed out! A small clue, it’s likely to be on court!

Now in its 11th year, MWTC has grown from strength to strength – and this year, the caliber of players participating in the tournament will only further serve to put Abu Dhabi on the map as the sporting capital of the region.

Joining the ‘awesome foursome’ will be defending MWTC champion and 2018 Wimbledon finalist Kevin Anderson, 2018 French Open Finalist Dominic Thiem (8), Karen Khachanov (11) and Hyeon Chung (25).
