Dubai, United Arab Emirates – 10 February 2019: Aetna, the leading health benefits provider, has renewed its support as a key commercial partner of this year’s Dubai Cares’ Walk for Education, having agreed a sponsorship deal.

Held in support of the “Year of Tolerance 2019”, the 10th Walk for Education aims to raise awareness about the importance of providing underprivileged children and young people around the world with access to quality education. Since the launch of the Walk for Education in 2019, 287 million steps have been taken in solidarity with millions of children and young people in developing countries who embark on a long and treacherous journey to school every single day.

Taking place on Friday 15 February at Dubai Creek Park, next to Al Garhoud Bridge, Gate 2, the Dubai Cares Walk for Education hopes to build on its previous successes by attracting more participants and volunteers to support this meaningful cause.

David Healy, CEO EMEA of Aetna International, said: “At Aetna, our mission is to build a healthier world, and to help people stay healthy by focusing on wellness and prevention. That’s why maintaining our sponsorship for the Walk for Education is the perfect way for us to turn this commitment into action. We are proud to be a main supporter of the event, which will highlight the struggles experienced by many children in reaching school each day.”

Speaking about this year’s edition of the annual Walk for Education, His Excellency Tariq Al Gurg, Chief Executive Officer at Dubai Cares, said: “We are delighted to see Aetna once again sponsoring this year’s edition and marking with us the 10th anniversary of the Walk for Education. With their support, Dubai Cares is opening new horizons to children and young people in developing countries through the transformative power of education.”

The registration amount of AED 30 (children under five enter for free) is considered as a donation to Dubai Cares and will go towards supporting its education programs around the world, Participants can register online through Virgin Megastore Tickets or on the day, and are advised to arrive at 7:30 am with the walk starting at 9 am.

Healy added: “It’s set to be a fun and inspiring day out, and our employees alongside their friends and families are very much looking forward to taking part.
