Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, - 21 February 2019:  Marina Mall Abu Dhabi is teaming up with UAE-based breast cancer awareness and screening initiative Pink Caravan to encourage all women and men across Abu Dhabi to get tested.

From 21st of February until 2nd of March, medical staff from Pink Caravan will offer women free advice and screening for breast cancer at a private booth in the Mall.

Pink Caravan promotes early breast cancer detection, offering women of all ages free breast cancer screening. They will be sharing the message that the earlier cancer is detected, the easier it is to treat.

Visitors will also have a chance to speak to medical experts and learn about the disease, its causes, symptoms and methods of detection.

Marina Mall Abu Dhabi encourages all women to visit the fixed clinic in the Mall, open between 10am and 10pm.

Dr Sawsan Al Madhi, Director General of Friends of Cancer Patients (FOCP) and Head of the Pink Caravan Ride Medical and Awareness Committee, said: “The essence of the Pink Caravan Ride’s efforts lies in our belief that healthcare must be easily accessible to members of the community, therefore we joined hands with Marina Mall in Abu Dhabi to provide a medical screening clinic that will be providing awareness, education and free breast cancer clinical examination.

“We call on all women and men above the age of 20 to visit our specialist medical staff at the Pink Caravan clinic for a free check-up.'

Specialist doctors from Healthpoint Hospital are involved in the Pink Caravan initiative and will be at Marina Mall.

Dr Mai Ahmed Al Jaber, Medical Director and Public Health Medicine Specialist said: “Breast cancer is highly preventable with a five-year survival rate close to 100 percent if detected early. Many women and men wait till they experience symptoms to consult their doctor because of cultural taboos, fear and complacency.

“At Healthpoint, we strongly believe everyone should have easy access to health and medical care and information and we are really proud to partner with Pink Caravan for the fourth year in a row to raise breast cancer awareness across this nation. This campaign is a positive step toward making a healthier and happier nation and we strongly encourage people to take charge of their health and undergo the appropriate screening tests according to their age and risk factors.”
