Sky News Arabia champions inclusion ahead of opening of Special Olympics World Games in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi, 4 March 2019: Sky News Arabia are putting people of determination at the heart of their coverage of Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019 and supporting new initiatives to support employment opportunities for those with disabilities.
 
As the world’s largest sports and humanitarian event comes to the Middle East for the very first time, Sky News Arabia will be covering all the action.
 
From the 27th February until 21st March the coverage will include the torch lighting ceremony in Athens, the torch-run, the opening and closing ceremonies, all the latest sporting action and special events being held across the country, as the UAE celebrates the achievements of people of determination in a way never seen before in the region. The coverage will be on all Sky News Arabia’s platforms including TV, Radio, Online and Social media.
 
Starting with the Flame of Hope arrival into Abu Dhabi this Thursday, the channel also plans a special live broadcast on 13 March as the Torch Run comes to Sky News Arabia studios.
 
As an official media partner of Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019, Sky News Arabia will be at the heart of the action speaking to athletes, coaches and sports personalities from around the world as they broadcast live from the main sports venue, Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), where 10 different sports will be taking place between 14 and 21 March.
 
At ADNEC, Sky News Arabia’s top presenters and team of talented crew will also offer media training to people of determination. They will coach young people with intellectual disability in camera operation, lighting and presenting as part of a legacy initiative to give more opportunities to people with intellectual disabilities.
 
Sky News Arabia also intend to expand their annual internship program to include a training program for people of determination, putting inclusion at the heart of the organization’s business.

Sky News Arabia will also run daily social media contests, with the best Special Olympics images and comments posted online being given the chance to be included in the station’s coverage.
