Computer-delivered IELTS testing makes its debut at UOWD centre
World’s most popular language test can now be done through traditional paper-based method or on computer at test centres
Dubai, March 5, 2019: IELTS, the world’s most popular high-stakes language test, can now be taken on computer at the University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD) starting March 1, 2019. The new option puts test takers first by offering faster results and greater test availability.
The computer-delivered IELTS option offers an improved test day experience by providing a quiet, modern test environment, results within five to seven days and more test availability for Academic and General Training test takers, while maintaining all of the test’s current security, trust and integrity.
“In collaboration with IDP Education, this is a huge step forward for UOWD, enhancing the experience for our IELTS test takers by providing them with a customer friendly environment. The computer-delivered test is very easy to use and we have made our testing lab pleasant and comfortable with cutting edge technology. Test-takers will have more choice in terms of time and dates, and faster turn-around time to receive their results”, said Dr Debra McDermott, Director, UOWD College.
The test content and structure remain the same, whether taking IELTS on computer or paper and, importantly, the Speaking Test remains face-to-face with a certified IELTS Examiner. Whether test takers take paper-based or computer-delivered IELTS, they can be confident that they are taking the same trusted English language test.
Darrin Vardon, Director, IELTS Operations Middle East & Eastern Europe, IDP Education, said more people than ever are looking to improve their English to advance their global career opportunities.
“IDP, a proud co-owner of IELTS, is introducing computer-delivered IELTS at its test centres around the world. We are pleased to offer this option in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and in doing so, we are empowering our ambitious test takers to achieve their best outcome on test day, and in turn, their global goals. More computer-delivered testing locations in the UAE will be added in the coming months,” Mr Vardon added.
The computer-delivered IELTS will be available at UOWD College from 1 March 2019. Test takers can register for computer delivered IELTS by booking on my.ieltsessentials.com or email their queries to cdielts@uowdubai.ac.ae.
IELTS is the International English Language Testing System, the world’s most popular English language proficiency test for higher education and global migration, with more than 3 million tests taken in the last year. Over 10,000 organisations trust and accept IELTS as a secure, valid and reliable indicator of true to life ability to communicate in English.
