‘Celvita Z’ tops in the category of Young Horses 7 years (2012), ‘Miss Chello’ wins in the category of Young Horses 6 years (2013) and in the category of Young Horses 5 years (2014), ‘Joep V D Elsakker’ comes in first place

Dubai, UAE, April 22, 2019:   7-year-old horse ‘Celvita Z’, owned by Mohamed Salem Mohamed Al Hosani and representing the Dubai Polo & Equestrian Club won the final competition for Young Horses in 7-year-old category, while ‘Miss Chello’ owned by the Sharjah Equestrian & Racing Club was the winner in the Young Horses 6-year-olds category. In the Young Horses 5-year-old category, ‘Joep V D Elsakker’, owned by Sheikh Abdulla Jamal Al Neami and representing the Sharjah Equestrian & Racing Club came in first during the 16th week of the Emirates Longines Show Jumping League. 

The two-day event saw riders and their horses compete in ten different classes. The event was held under the supervision of the UAE Equestrian and Racing Federation (UAEERF) and sponsored by Longines, the Official Time Keeper and presenting partner of the Emirates Longines Show Jumping League competitions. Male and Female Riders from various equestrian clubs and centres took part in the competitions. 

Sultan Al Yahyai, General Director of the Sharjah Equestrian & Racing Club, and Hussam Zummit, representative of the UAEERF presented the prizes to the winners. 

‘Celvita Z’ wins in the category of Young Horses - 7 years old (2012)
‘Celvita Z’ and her owner Mohamed Salem Mohamed Al Hosani came out on top in the category of 7-year-old Young Horses during the Competition Over Two Rounds class which included two rounds with jumps placed at 135 cm. Ridden by Danish rider, Tina Lund,  from the Dubai Polo & Equestrian Club, ‘Celvita Z’ won first place by completing both the rounds without faults, and ending the second round in (42.31) seconds. The second place was taken by ‘Diamond Way’ from the Sharjah Equestrian & Racing Club who is owned by Nadia Abdul Aziz Taryam and Salim Ahmed Al Suwaidi with the latter riding the stallion in the competition as well. They also succeeded in completing both rounds without any faults and finished the second round in (45.24) seconds. Third place went to Alice Debany Clero riding ‘Hera FBH’, who is owned by Creno Horses and represents the Emirates Equestrian Centre. They also completed both rounds without any faults and took (46.48) seconds to finish the second round.

‘Miss Chello’ flies into winning position in Young Horses - 6 years old category (2013)
‘Miss Chello’, owned by the Sharjah Equestrian & Racing Club, successfully earned the title of ‘best 6-year-old young horse’. Greek rider, Dimitrios Natsis, ‘Miss Chello’, completed the first competition  of One Round Not Against the Clock on the first day of the show without accruing any faults and went on to compete in the Competition Over Two Rounds on the second day. He completed the first round without any faults, but in the second round committed a fault with four penalty points, finishing in (46.56) seconds. In second place came ‘Center’ and his owner & rider, Sheikh Majid Bin Abdullah Al Qassimi, from the Sharjah Equestrian & Racing Club, who ended the second round in (58.14) seconds with seven faults in total in which five were from Round 1 while the other two came in the second round. Third place went to Rashed Moh'd Al Romaithi and ‘Valentine’, owned by the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club who ended the second round in (48.34) with eight faults.

‘Joep V D Elsakker’ is the victor in the category of Young Horses 5 years old (2014)
‘Joep V D Elsakker’ owned by Sheikh Abdulla Jamal Al Neami came in first in the Competition Over Two Rounds for 5-year-olds, which included two rounds with jumps set at a height of 120 cm. The UAE’s Sheikh Ali Jmal Al Noaimi, rider of ‘Joep V D Elsakker’, completed the second round in (56.44) seconds. In second place came ‘Quidam Jr.’ and his rider and owner Salim Ahmed Al Suwaidi, who completed the second round in (47.63) seconds with four faults in the first round. ‘Emirates Pride’, owned by Abdulla Al Marri from the Emirates Equestrian Centre, with his rider, the USA’s Alice Debany Clero came in third after completing the second round in (61.44) seconds with fourteen faults, five of which were committed during the first day of the competition.

The UAE is well represented in the Juniors category
Sultan Majed Al Awani, from the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club, and his horse ‘Carodas Z’ won the Juniors’ category in the One Round Against the Clock class with jumps placed at a height of 125cm. 23 riders participated in the competition, of which only four completed the round without faults.

In the same class, 40 riders competed under the Open category, which had obstacles placed at a height of 130cm. Fourteen completed the round without any faults but First place was secured by the Saudi rider, Abdullah Al Sharbatly, and his horse ‘Chap 47’ from the Sharjah Equestrian & Racing Club.

In the Juniors’ category, for the Two Phase Open Class which included two rounds and obstacles placed at a height of 130 cm, 19 riders participated but it was Omar Abdul Aziz Al Marzooqi and his 11-year-old mare, ‘Ugoline De La Pierre’, who came in first place, followed by Sultan Majed Al Awani and ‘Carodas Z’. 

Under the Open category of the same class, fifteen out of the 39 riders completed both rounds without any faults. Dimitrios Natsis, and his horse ‘Calista De La Hart’ from the Sharjah Equestrian & Racing Club came in first with Moh'd Shafi M. Al Remeithi and ‘Puck’ from the Emirates Heritage Club securing second place.

UAE is great at developing child riders too
The 16th week of the Emirates Longines Show Jumping League opened with a competition for Children with a One Round not Against Clock class in which jumps were set at a height of 110 cm. Nine riders competed in this category, of which seven completed the round without faults and shared a joint win. 

The other competition for Children was a One Round with Jump Off with jumps placed at a height of 115 cm. Ten riders participated in this class, four of which qualified for the jump off round and three completed it without any faults. The UAE’s Eisa Omran Al Owais and ‘Avelon’ from Al Safinat Stables came in first place. 

UAE shows well in Novice Championship as well
The Novice Championship included a One Round Not Against the Clock on the first day of the show with a One Round with Jump Off on the second day. 28 male and female riders participated in the Novice Championship but only five out of 28 riders qualified for the jump off - three of them completed this round without any faults. Emirati rider Khalifa Mohammed Al Shamsi and ‘Jaleed’ from the Sharjah Equestrian & Racing Club came in first, while in second came his fellow club member, Aisha Mohamed Al Maazmi, and her horse ‘Lowenherz B’.
