Empower completes periodic maintenance of cooling plants to welcome summer

Dubai, UAE, 1st May 2019:   Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), the world's largest district cooling services provider, announced its readiness for summer, with the latest global technologies; to meet the growing demand for district cooling services in Dubai during the summer. The company usually launches summer campaigns to raise awareness among customers, and help them reduce consumption during summer.

Empower confirmed the completion of the periodic maintenance of its 75 cooling plants across Dubai, ensure the provision of high quality district cooling services for customers, during the peak hours of summer.

Empower confirmed the use of latest district cooling systems, that comply with global standards, in its operational processes. This supports reducing electricity and water consumption by 30%, transforming the Emirate into a global hub for clean energy and green economy, and making Dubai the city with the lowest carbon footprint in the world by 2050.

“Empower’s cooling plants are equipped with the latest global technologies. We conduct the periodic maintenance of our cooling plants, to serve the increase of customers demand on cooling services during the summer season,” said Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower.

Empower leverages on the off-peak winter months to ensure a consistent level of service during the peak time to its 100,000 customers in the major real estate projects in Dubai.

System adjustments for the summer period include updates at Empower’s state-of-the-art Command Control Centre that effect precise temperature control at units, smart calculators for accurate metering, bulk meter maintenance and temperature sensor verification. The process also ensures smooth functioning of networks and machineries, and readiness of emergency-response measures and tools.

'Empower constantly supports environmental issues using state-of-the-art district cooling systems, according to the highest international standards, to promote sustainability and preserve natural resources, for us and for future generations,” added Bin Shafar.

Bin Shafar stressed that Empower's district cooling systems rely on sustainability and recycling, which are the basis of the circular economy model, making it the ideal model for sustainable development, to meet the needs of the present and the future.

Empower provides district cooling services to more than 1,090 buildings, catering to more than 100,000 customers. The company operates more than 1.43 Million Refrigeration Tons (RT), providing environmentally friendly district cooling services to large-scale real estate developments, such as Bluewaters, Jumeirah Group, Business Bay, Jumeirah Beach Residence, Dubai International Financial Centre, Palm Jumeirah, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Ibn Battuta Mall, Discovery Gardens, Dubai Healthcare City, Dubai World Trade Centre Residences and Dubai Design District, International Media Production Zone and others.
